Facebook Says Marine Corps Logo Violates “Community Standards”

Robert Gehl
July 29, 2015

Facebook has taken down a popular pro-military page for violating their community standards. Apparently, it’s offensive to display the logo of the United States Marine Corps.

Robert Combs set up the site to follow the funerals of the Marines killed in Chattanooga.

He said he received the three-day ban over the Marine Corps logo, and a screenshot bears this out. He said all he can do in Facebook is chat because his page (“Locked and Loaded,” though it doesn’t show up anymore in searches) is down.

“I am just speechless as to how this violates community standards,” he said. The screenshot provided by Light did not indicate why the image was yanked, other than Facebook’s claim it violated their standards.

The page had over 53,000 “likes,” and at one time was popular with over one million people. He re-tweeted his “shut down” announcement on Twitter.
