Sanders draws massive crowd in Wisconsin

By Elliot Smilowitz

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders drew 10,000 supporters, the largest crowd of his campaign thus far, according to reports.

"Tonight, we have more people at any meeting for a candidate of president of the United States than any other candidate,” Sanders told his fans at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Madison, Wis., according to the Associated Press.

Sanders used the occasion to slam Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a likely Republican White House hopeful, for Walker’s battles against state labor unions.

"When you deny the right of workers to come together in collective bargaining, that's extremism," Sanders said. "When you tell a woman that she cannot control her own body, that's extremism."

Sanders continued beating his populist drum, to the delight of his supporters.

"The big money interests — Wall Street, corporate America, all of these guys — have so much power that no president can defeat them unless there is an organized grassroots movement making them an offer they can't refuse," he said.

Some in attendance took to social media to share images from the event:

It's a sad time in America when "gay marriage" and "forced health care" gets approval and a proclaimed socialist running for president draws such a large crowd.   8888crybaby

Word.

All this proves is that government schools have failed America. Socialism? Really?

History should've taught us something.

Americans, the ones that care, are confused. The media obfuscates, politicians lie, and the opposition party offers no clear message.

When jobs are hard to find, salaries are shrinking, while executives at companies make millions, and the media blames the hapless opposition party for all ills, the average American can't make sense of this.

The socialist message appeals to those unable to make sense of what's going on. It offers comfort in uncertain times.

Government schools are a sparkling success. They have accomplished their goal:
A populace unable to think critically, desirous of a large government to care for them.

Meaning that you can only abort male infants without being an extremist...

Yes it does.  Unfortunately the reality of socialism takes much longer to understand.

Maybe this time it will be 'different'...   /s

Just as it did in Weimar Germany. And with the complicity of a news media wholly given over to state propaganda, a decadent academic and entertainment culture, and a leader who lacks any sense of personal or poltical limitations, the spiral begins to accelerate.

America's future isn't in doubt. It's simply a question of how fast, and how far down she'll fall.

Utopian philosophies persist by exempting themselves from empiricism.

Socialism will work, you see, when people are remade to be worthy of it, specifically by... how did Michelle Obama put it? "We are going to have to change our conversation; we’re going to have to change our traditions, our history; we’re going to have to move into a different place as a nation.”

It matters not to Progressives that their philosophy uniformly results in pain, suffering, sacrifice and a loss of freedom for the masses whose interests they pretend to represent. It means power and influence and also, ungodly sums of money from the international network of Progressive funders, think tanks, and organizations.

I realize that America has been in a decline for quite some time. She will continue to decline and eventually fall if "we" let her.  Yes the future is in doubt and it is up to the conservatives to offer real solutions and define a new pathway.  Imagine a country where people are back to work and off food stamps.  Imagine a country who has leadership and is respected around the world.  Imagine a country who's people are proud once again to be an American.... It is important to convey to those who are leaning towards socialism that liberalism/socialism isn't the answer and why conservatism has worked in the past and will work in restoring our country in the future.  Without a "true conservative" nominee we will lose.  The past three election cycles we ran a RINOGOP and lost.

I admire, but don't share your sense of optimism. Here's why.

- Those of us on the right side of the spectrum, yes, including RINOs are declining in numbers. We are outnumbered, and we are a dying breed.

- Our party has no interest in conservatism, or fighting liberals. It is an open debate as to what you actually get when you elect a Republican.

- The media is all in with Democrats, and will go so far as to blatantly lie to push the liberal agenda.

- The public has been groomed to want big government. The public is distracted, and incapable of critical thinking.

- The public schools are turning out more and more of these chuckleheads every year.

The march to socialism, and beyond has begun, and won't stop until a new generation is forged in the crucible of hard times brought by an all powerful government.

A soon-to-be 74 year-old rich white guy is the future of the Democratic Party.  Without the media in their corner, they would be irrelevant.

The Gramsicans have trumped history with their own doctrine, and they are close to winning -- or have already won.

This is why something like 47% of people asked in a recent poll would vote for a socialist candidate for president. The crowds appearing for Sanders are stark evidence that that poll, at least, isn't too far "off the mark".

I'm sensing that unlike O'er-the-Hillary, who is viewed by many of the young as "just another establishment candidate", Bernie Sanders is coming across as the real deal -- an "anti-Republican" that they believe in and are ready to vote for...

I fully understand where you are coming from, but as a conservative I refuse to throw in the towel. I love this country and the Constitution upon which it was founded; obviously NOT the government that is eroding it. The glimmer of hope I see is a result of the mid term elections.  Not that liberals became conservative, but they saw that liberalism isn't working.  According to the Washington Post: "Why did these alleged swing voters swing right? It is because independents who voted for Republicans were simply Republicans all along. The election was not about the Republican Party winning the independents. It was about the Democratic Party losing the Democrats."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/monkey-cage/wp/2014/11/06/independents-didnt-decide-the-midterm-election/

Polls are reported by the MSM and the MSM has tried to convince everyone that it is going to be a Bush v Hillary scenario. Good grief that was long before any candidates started announcing their run. Sure Sanders drew a huge crowd, but he's pretty much the only alternative that the DEMS have; Clinton is damaged goods and they know it. Yes, the public schools are turning out a bunch of brain dead liberals, but not every student is a product of liberalism; especially those raised by conservative minded parents or those liberals students who realize they were duped.  I am fortunate to reside in a county where the majority are conservative and my state representative in Congress is TEA.  He defeated the GOPe hands down.

Also consider that close to 11,000 people attended Cruz's campaign introduction, and when Cruz asked them to send a text asking a response to support the Constitution; the response was very encouraging.  They are 31 Republican governors and 18 Democratic governors - including Barry's home state of Illinois.  I see this as a huge turn around.

You are correct the GOPe has no interest in restoring this country.  It may take this country falling before it can be restored.  However I believe that the true conservatives of this country are just getting started.   :patriot:

What's your problem?  You've gone from an interesting poster to a one-trick pony in just 9 months.

Your posts are neither insightful nor relevant these days.  I say this as one of the board "moderates."  Your continual random attacks on those to the right of you socially ruin every thread.

Can't you just respectfully disagree when you find someone who doesn't hold the same opinion as you?

There's nothing wrong with t_s.  It's just that he's from California...  :silly:

Hey, it's not his fault. A California conservative is ideologically like an Alabama communist. He can't help himself.  just joking with my old buddy.

Happy July 4th

Sorry to have displeased you. Suffice it to say I am not optimistic about the future of "conservatism" because I believe the proponents are failing to persuade people to adopt and follow their beliefs.

Nationwide I believe the "conservative" followers demand their candidates adopt positions, which insure the continued losses and shrinkage. It is demographics and a changing country.

My city and county continue to elect Republicans, although my state no longer does. It did elect Republicans not very long ago, however.

The highlight today, is the largest July 4th parade, west of the Mississippi. In its 111th year.
