Gods no! They fight well. More the problem of a three front war developing with my friends in the middle of it. The Kurds are already dealing with ISIS and constant harassment from Turkey. Iran as well will be too much for even them.

I didn't think so, yet had to ask why you are concerned. Thanks EC.

I got any foolishness about "women in combat" slapped out of me the first time one of them took me down in training, totally effortlessly. Don't even think her breathing sped up. The very bored look certainly never left her face!

Extraordinary scenes in Kobani as grateful Kurds line the streets to bid a hero's farewell to US soldier who died fighting ISIS
Opening paragraphs:

Quote
Hundreds of grateful Kurds have bid a hero's farewell to a U.S. soldier who died fighting against the Islamic State in Syria after traveling to the war-torn country because he felt it was 'God's will'.

Residents waved flags and applauded as Keith Broomfield's casket was driven through the streets of Kobani in a white van on Thursday - more than a week after he died in a battle between Kurdish forces and ISIS.

The 36-year-old's body was handed over to his grief-stricken family at a Turkish border crossing, Kurdish official Idriss Naasan told AP. It was not immediately clear which of Broomfield's relatives received his body at the Mursitpinar gate.

Broomfield, from Westminster, Massachusetts, was killed on June 3 in a battle in a Syrian village near Kobani, making him likely the first U.S. citizen to die fighting alongside the Kurds against the terror group.

July 17: Major Offensive Against ISIL Terrorists Beleaguered Inside Hasakah
Created on Friday, 17 July 2015 14:04 | Print | Email | Hits: 93

Immediate Release for the Media and Public Opinion

HASAKAH, Rojava (July 17, 2015) - Constant military operations conducted by joined forces of the People’s Defense Units (YPG) and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) continue to confront the Daesh (ISIL) terrorists attempting occupation efforts near the city of Hasakah, Rojava, Syria.

In Hasakah, combined forces last night carried out an assault operation of two axis against members of terrorist group ISIL positioned in the city center. First seal of this attack progressed from the direction of Penitentiary (Children Prison) and targeted the village of Tal’a where fierce clashes took place between our Units and the ISIL terrorists. During this part of the operation an unconfirmed number of enemy forces were killed, 4 bodies found on the battlegrounds.

The second wing of the plan moved correspondingly from the neighborhood Azizya and advanced toward southern Hasakah. As result of a successful performance for the movement, the village Fallah was fully secured of terrorist elements. Enemy forces’ casualties could not be immediately verified.

Kobani – Enduring military operations in the south and east of the city of Kobani, the Defense Units have experienced several engagements with ISIL terrorists over the past few days.

Last night in south Kobani, ISIL terrorists launched concurrent attacks on the villages of Qilhayde, Sina, Argane, Nurali and Arabic Sepata using heavy weaponry and intense mortar fire. No casualties have been suffered by our forces and the Defense Units have been able to respond and repulse the attacks to the same extent as the hostile activities.

In east Kobani, ISIL terrorists attempted for another assault on the village of Faatfe, led to a clash between our forces and the attackers near the stated location. According to what has been verified by field reports, 5 ISIL fighters were killed, two corpses discovered in the area where the terrorists withdrew from. Also there, two thermal scopes were seized by our troops.

Mabroukah – A terrorist attack was carried out last night on the village of Nastal, 24 kilometers to the far west of the town Mabroukah, Serekaniye. A group of terrorists, formed of 3 individuals, tried to infiltrate into the site which is barely half kilometers far from the border with Turkey. Monitoring the group, the Defense Units intervened against the targets and clashed with them, killed one of their members. However, another terrorist element could cross the border and fled to Turkey. Security Force’ operation to find and capture the last affiliate of the group – suspected to be wounded and hiding somewhere around – is continuing.

Now THIS is interesting. There is no doubt the Kurds will protect the Assyrians as fiercely as they do the Yazadi. There are a lot of Assyrians in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, who tend to be the sort of people you want as part of a countries backbone. Smart move by both parties.

I love those people!

And they love us even after all our betrayals of them. Don't know why.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
