Laser punches hole in truck from more than a mile away

Look at the hole left in this truck after a new military laser destroyed it from more than a mile away.

The 30-kilowatt laser burned through the truck's engine in a matter of seconds.

While not ready for the battle yet, it's makers Lockheed Martin think it is destined for greater things.

Lockheed's chief technology officer Keoki Jackson said: "This test represents the next step to providing lightweight and rugged laser weapon systems for military aircraft, helicopters, ships and trucks."

Damn! Star Wars is right around the corner. I just may live to see it deployed.

Just hope the Death Star never comes to fruition.
