Councilman Vincent Gentile, a Brooklyn Democrat, called on his Republican rival, Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan, to denounce a potential presidential contender’s “treacherous” remark at a recent conservative conference. Mr. Gentile ripped Mr. Donovan for being “silent” as Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker likened pro-labor protesters in Wisconsin to members of the Islamic State, a terrorist group.

“How could this man compare hundreds of thousands of hardworking American men and women with an Islamic terrorist group which has killed thousands?!” Mr. Gentile asked. “And, quite frankly, how could my opponent remain silent when a leader of his party insults working families all across this great nation?!”

“New York’s 11th Congressional District is home to thousands upon thousands of cops, firefighters, construction workers and nurses. So when Governor Walker compared dedicated, hardworking union members to terrorists he insulted everyone—especially New York’s 11th congressional district,” he said.
