So sad to hear this. I was about 10 when the show came out, and he was my favorite on the original Star Trek.

I do not understand why this shocked me. But it did.
I never thought Spock would die before me. I don't know why?

I disagree. Would Tesla or Edison not want to be remembered for what they did?
This guy made a difference in the World in general. Go anywhere and they all know Spock. It beats working at 7/11.

He did his job in an excellent manner. That is something to be proud of, and something to be remembered.

Know exactly what you mean.

Today, I watched a Western with Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn.

To see Kirk Douglas grow old, retire, and die was one thing.  But to see his son Michael age to the point he looks like a walking cadaver? 

I refuse to look in the mirror.    :laugh:

When he wasn't being Spock on the big screen or on TV, Nimoy was a fine stage actor.

One of his funniest scenes as Spock was when Kirk asked him to work on some major problem during the episode and he continued to stand there talking to Kirk and McCoy.  After a minute or so, McCoy asks Spock if he isn't supposed to be working on the problem.

Spock does his eyebrow thing and dryly says, "I am..."     :silly:

Believe it or not that is actually a real thing. I have not need nor desire to compare myself to the character of Spock. But yes, it is true that I have said to my boss, "Now that you said that to me, I will figure it out." He would say, "What?" I would say just give me some time.

Sometimes they would just tell me something just to see what would happen. More than once it resulted in a surprising outcome. I like to be stimulated by a problem. I enjoy it.

In Unix/Linux/AIX we call this a background process. But it is a real thing. I have once or twice dreamed answers to complicated problems and implemented them the next day to make it work.

It is not common, but it is an excellent feeling when that happens.

I also liked the Star Wars movie where they go back in time to present-day Los Angeles.  Spock tries to talk to the computer and people look at him like he's crazy.
