In yet another “hear me now and watch the opposite take place” moment, Barack Obama declared yesterday that current race relations in the United States are better than they have been in decades. This presidential declaration comes even as the administration, in conjunction with race-baiting tax cheat Al Sharpton, is preparing a multitude of protest demonstrations across America following the soon to be announced Ferguson grand jury decision involving officer Darren Wilson.

Al Sharpton shakes hands with Barack Obama even as he reportedly owes in excess of seven million dollars in unpaid taxes. Sharpton has indicated the Obama White House seeks his counsel often, including who should be appointed to influential and powerful government positions.

Leaving aside the concept of better race relations, which is a concept overly vague, let us simply look at how black Americans are doing economically during the Obama years, and how they were doing during the Reagan era.

By 2014, the unemployment rate for Black Americans was at nearly 13 percent – highest among all groups. Among Black youth though, the unemployment rate grew to nearly 37 percent – again highest among all groups.  Such high rates of unemployment have no doubt contributed to greater crime and incarceration, and left neighborhoods decimated. (Have you seen Detroit lately?)

Blacks living in poverty has jumped during the Obama years, growing from 25.8% to 27.2%

Inflation-adjusted incomes for Black families has fallen by a thousand dollars a year during the Obama years, and more than 3.5 million more Blacks are now on food-stamps than just before Barack Obama became president.

Now compare the above numbers to how Black Americans were doing during the Reagan years:

By his seventh year in office, while total unemployment had fallen to below 6%, the Reagan economy was producing jobs for minorities at double the rate it was for White workers. Overall Black unemployment was nearly cut in half, falling from over 20% to 11%. For Black youth unemployment was 31% during the final years of the Reagan presidency, well below the Obama era 37%.

Overall Black poverty declined by nearly three full % points under Reagan.

Additionally, Black business boomed during the Reagan-era 1980’s, millions of Black families joined the Middle Class, while inflation adjusted incomes for Black families rose significantly during the Reagan years.

There really is no comparison – the Obama years have been most cruel to Black Americans. Millions have given up looking for jobs, entirely dropping out of an economy that ignores them except when it is time to ask for their vote.
