I don’t agree abusive government power can easily be rectified in the voting booth or corporations can attain comparable levels of power, at least without the cooperation of governments. I guess we shall leave it at that.

Let's not lose sight of what a corporation is here:

A corporation is basically a sheet of paper, endorsed by the government, that says that if the company loses money, the people who own shares in the company won't be held personally liable for the debts their company has accrued (meaning, usually, the creditors are SOL). So corporatism and government go hand-in-hand.
