D.C.: Two Afghan Muslims training with DEA vanish during Georgetown visit

Posted on September 20, 2014 by creeping

Afghan police officers vanish during visit to Georgetown – D.C. Crime Stories – Linkis.com.

Two Afghan nationals training with the Drug Enforcement Agency disappeared while visiting Georgetown over the weekend, and authorities still do not know their whereabouts.

The two men were police officers with Afghanistan Ministry of Interior Affairs, described by law enforcement officials as the equivalent of the DEA in the United States. The group had been training at the Quantico Marine Corps Base for about a month to combat drug trafficking. They graduated Thursday and are scheduled to leave the country Friday.

On Saturday evening, 31 members of the group, accompanied by DEA special agents, visited Georgetown where they ate at a restaurant and did a little sight-seeing, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation.

The group then met at the Washington Harbor to hop on a tour boat to Alexandria, but two of the men – 22-year-old Mohammad Yasin Ataye and 24-year-old Mohd Naweed Samimi — were missing.

Ataye and Samimi were not carrying their visas, authorities said. They were here on A-2 visas, a step down from a diplomat, and approved to stay in the U.S. during the duration of the training program, authorities said.

DEA spokesman Rusty Payne did not return repeated calls this week for comment, but on Thursday told CBS News that the men may be headed to Buffalo, N.Y., and are being aided by a female operating an unknown rental car.

Buffalo is a known haven for jihadists and sharia supporters.

“These are two individuals who pose no threat or danger. Most likely, they are just seeking a better life in the U.S.,” Payne said.

The disappearance was first reported by WJLA.

Ataye is described as 6-feet-tall, 160 pounds.

Samimi was described as being 5-feet-4, and 15o pounds.

One of the men was wearing a red button up dress shirt and dark blue jeans, and the other, a light blue button shirt and dark blue jeans.

It sounds like Rusty Payne might be the threat. Afghan cops and military or those posing as them have killed many American soldiers.

A better life for them will mean a worse life for the rest of us as two more illegals are allowed to infiltrate America.

Now that we've figured out what they're up to, how long will it take anyone in the DEA or the Obama administration to do the same?

Edit to add:  ... not that they care.

Three Afghan soldiers missing from Cape Cod base

CAMP EDWARDS, Mass. (AP) - Police and military officials were searching Sunday for three soldiers from the Afghanistan National Army who went missing during a training exercise at a Cape Cod military base.

The Afghan soldiers had been participating in a U.S. Central Command Regional Cooperation training exercise at Joint Base Cape Cod, U.S. military officials said. They arrived at Camp Edwards on Sept. 11 and were last seen at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis.

The soldiers were reporting missing by base security personnel on Saturday night. They were identified as Major Jan Mohammad Arash, Captain Mohammad Nasir Askarzada and Captain Noorullah Aminyar.

Base and exercise officials were working with local and state authorities to locate them. There is no indication the soldiers pose any threat to the public, military officials said.

The Regional Cooperation training exercises have been held annually since 2004 to promote cooperation and interoperability among forces, build functional capacity, practice peacekeeping operations and enhance readiness.

This year's exercise, which involves more than 200 participants from six nations including the U.S., wraps up on Wednesday. There are about a dozen Afghan soldiers still participating in the exercise.

Yeah, their handler seems to be pretty lassaiz-faire about the whole deal.  I won't worry, the best minds are on it.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to believe anything I read these days.  Hard to believe that our military would say such a thing as in the above quote.

But, I have to assume that this is reported accurately, that our military actually does not see a threat from these men vanishing like this.

Good people with good intentions - DO NOT VANISH. They follow the rules.  You have to assume bad intent until you find them and determine otherwise!  What in God's name is going on in our government?  All is lost, I fear the worst.  I don't know how much more I can take before I do the John Galt thing.  At some point, you just have to save yourself.  God help us!

The Pentagon says there's no reason to be overly concerned about the three Afghan troops who went missing from a military base in Cape Cod.

Missing Afghan soldiers reportedly found near Canadian border

Published September 22, 2014FoxNews.com

DEVELOPING: Three Afghan National Army officers who vanished from a Cape Cod military base where they had been taking part in a training exercise have reportedly been found near Niagara Falls, where they were trying to cross into Canada.

The men, reported missing by the Massachusetts National Guard, were first reported missing Saturday night at Joint Base Cape Cod late Saturday. A statement identified the soldiers as Maj. Jan Mohammad Arash, 48, Capt. Mohammad Nasir Askarzada, 18, and Capt. Noorullah Aminyar, 20.

A federal source told MyFoxBoston.com the men were caught at the border on Monday. The report could not be confirmed.

Earlier, Pentagon officials who spoke to Fox News said they did not feel that the missing soldiers posed a public threat. U.S. military officials told The Associated Press that the men arrived at Camp Edwards on Sept. 11. They were last seen during a day off at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis.

Massachusetts National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. James Sahady told the Cape Cod Times that the men “had the freedom to come and go.”

"If they were off-duty, they could go to McDonald's or the mall,” he said.

Base and exercise officials were working with local and state authorities to locate the soldiers, who were taking part in a U.S. Central Command Regional Cooperation exercise.

The exercises have been held annually since 2004 to promote cooperation and interoperability among forces, build functional capacity, practice peacekeeping operations and enhance readiness.

Col. George Harrington, battle group commander for the exercise, told the Cape Cod Times that the day the soldiers disappeared was a chance for participants to visit Cape Cod beaches and be treated to a traditional lobster boil back on the base.

This year's exercise, which involves more than 200 participants from six nations, including the U.S., wraps up on Wednesday. There are about a dozen Afghan soldiers still taking part in the exercise.

A Cape Cod Times reporter who attended a training exercise on Friday observed that none of the soldiers involved were carrying weapons.

This year is the first time the exercise has taken place on U.S. soil since 2006, the Cape Cod Times reported. The events are usually held in South Asia.

"This is a valuable opportunity for the Massachusetts National Guard and is personally rewarding," Harrington told the newspaper.

They should not have expected the Afghans to eat lobster, not Kosh-- oh, "halal".

Two Afghan police officers have been found after fleeing a training program with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration over the weekend.

Mohd Naweed Samimi, 24, and Mohammad Yasin Ataye, 22, were part of a five-week program in Quantico, Va,  to conduct anti-narcotics investigations in their home country when they vanished on a weekend outing to Georgetown.

The officers will return to Afghanistan with their class on Friday or Saturday after being contacted by authorities Thursday at an undisclosed location, a DEA spokesman, who declined to be identified, told the Daily News in a phone call.

Samimi and Ataye are not in custody at this time, but they’re on their way back to Quantico and scheduled to leave with the rest of the participants.

It’s not known if Samimi and Ataye intended to seek asylum, but it’s likely they left their supervised group to seek a better life in the United States.

WTF???

now this one, yes may be a dupe but needs to be shown.

You can trust our military and law enforcement.

Remember how they jumped on Major Hassan, as soon as they had information about him? NOT

And remember how careful they have been to not get shot by "friendly" Afghan and Iraqi soldiers? NOT

Remember how careful our FBI and law enforcement were with the Boston brothers when they were alerted? NOT

So it appears all of them were headed for Canada. I hope our friends there do a better job than our DHS in tracking down the terror cell with which the Afghans probably planned to rendezvous.
