Controlling people with fear is something our government is great at.

When I was a boy and young man, the local affiliated networks would play the Star Spangled Banner when they signed off for the night...usually, right after Tom Snyder who followed Johnny Carson and Jay Leno in the early years.  Nothing but a waving American flag on the screen...to the music.

I said back in 2001 that if they signed off or played the videos of the twin towers being struck and the people deciding to jump 100 stories to their death rather than burn alive....that we'd have won the peace by now.

instead, we're given antiseptically controlled 'wars' (they should be called something else)

Yes...keep stoking the hate of the American people so that they don't get lulled into thinking/feeling that action movies...where the good guys always win...isn't the true reality.

Dex...I respect your unwillingness to stay out of wars on the other side of the world.  I honestly do, but even today, I cannot erase the picture of that little headless girl of no more than 3-5 years old being held up under the arms...her pretty dress still on.

I want those monsters gone for good.

Blowing more billions on endlessly futile conflicts in the Middle East and killing even more innocent people in the process will not bring that little girl justice. It will foster more hatred and resentment towards the United States and continue to perpetuate a problem that cannot be fixed by us. If we destroy ISIS there will just be another, and another. Sane and reasonable people make up the majority of the Middle East. Let them deal with their own problems.

  Atta boy!

No sense in taking the bait, Dex.  Just know you have more than a few here that somewhat share your POV.

I was just watching the history channel about WWI.  Even back then, muslims were murdering and beheading people for no good reason, but yet today the media treats the barbarism as if it were something new.  They fought with Germany in both wars and were just as brutal as today.  If they get a foothold in America we will see the same uncivilized behavior in the streets here.  There will be one way and one way only to stop them and that is to become an even bigger bully than they.

I fear nothing when debate is to be had.  It's remarkable there is "consensus" with such topics as Global Warming and obamacare.  Yet there is none when we are discussing people hacking heads off by people who worship a black stone in the middle of a desert.
