Racial Hate Crimes Up in D.C.; Mostly White Victims

What’s humorous is how they’re trying to spin this. If the D.C. Police had reported that race-based “hate crimes” were up from 13 in 2012 to 18 in 2013, and that most of those were white-on-black crimes, no one would bother questioning it. They’d say it’s what they always knew, and then they’d try linking it in some way to Ferguson.

But the police reported the opposite of what liberals wanted to hear. In reality, of the 18 reported race-based hate crimes in D.C. last year, 10 of the victims were white. A majority of the suspects were black.

Here’s how the D.C. chapter of the Anti-Defamation League spun the data:

The low level of reported race-based hate crimes, including the small number in which minorities were victims, could be a sign that minority victims are reluctant to report crimes, said David C. Friedman, director of the D.C. regional office of the Anti-Defamation League.

“In many African-American communities and other parts of the country, no matter what the demographics of the police department are, there are levels of concern” with coming forward, Mr. Friedman said.

  […]

General mistrust of police among minority communities or language barriers among foreign-born populations could be reasons that victims don’t report, Mr. Friedman said.

“In the case of the District, there are very few hate crimes reported against Latinos and Asian-Americans,” he said. “But it would be wrong to conclude that there are none occurring.”

It’s racist to suggest that these numbers are accurate. Therefore, they must not be true. Blacks and other minorities are obviously just not reporting crimes committed against them by white people.

In other words, facts don’t matter. I have no problem with questioning statistics and numbers like these. But you can’t just make assumptions. You’ve got to have evidence. The evidence shows more black-on-white crimes occurring than the other way around. Like I said, if it showed more white-on-black crimes occurring in D.C., they wouldn’t question it. They’d accept it as self-evident.
