ISIS, Ferguson to dominate Sunday agenda

By Keith Laing

The rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and the unrest in Ferguson, Mo., will dominate the Sunday shows.

House Homeland Security Committee Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas) will appear on ABC’s “This Week” and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) will appear on NBC’s “Meet The Press” to discuss the actions of ISIS, which released a video this week of an American journalist being beheaded.

Additionally, Rep. William Lacy Clay, Jr., (D-Mo.) and Rev. Al Sharpton will discuss the unrest in Ferguson, Mo., over the shooting of an unarmed black teenager earlier this month and the police response to protests in the city on “This Week”, CBS’s “Face The Nation” and “Meet The Press” respectively.

Clay’s district includes Ferguson and Sharpton, a long-time civil rights leader that has close ties to the Obama administration.

Here's the lineup:

NBC's "Meet the Press": Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) will discuss concerns about ISIS in Iraq and Syria as tensions have mounted in the region. Republicans have criticized the Obama administration for being too slow to respond to the ISIS threat, and the criticism has been ramped up in recent days after the group released a video of the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

Rev. Al Sharpton will also weigh on the situation in Ferguson following a visit to the city by Attorney General Eric Holder this week.

Additionally, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will discuss his recent trip to Guatemala to perform eye surgery.

CBS's "Face the Nation": Rep. William Lacy Clay, Jr., (D-Mo.) will update viewers on the situation in Ferguson.

House Budget Committee Chairman and 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) will appear after reuniting with his former GOP ticket mate Mitt Romney this week.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) will also appear.

CNN's "State of the Union": Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Jack Reed (D-R.I.) will discuss the security threat from ISIS.

Police officials from Detroit, Dallas and Montgomery County, Md., will discuss community policing techniques in light of the controversy in Ferguson.

"Fox News Sunday": Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will appear to discuss ISIS and the killing of Foley. McCain is a member of the Senate
Armed Services Committee and he has long been critical of the Obama administration’s approach to foreign policy.

ABC's "This Week": Reps. McCaul and Clay will appear to discuss ISIS and Ferguson, respectively.
