GAO says Taliban Release Violated Law, So Where is Obama’s Mugshot?

It’s funny how abuse of power only cuts one way. Rick Perry got his mugshot taken for vetoing funding. Obama has abused his power in countless ways, from locking up a man who made an offensive YouTube video to smuggling weapons to Mexico, to launching a unilateral amnesty, to refusing to enforce laws he didn’t like to… the Taliban deal.
But the grinning Obama mugshot isn’t coming.
Obama administration officials broke federal law when they exchanged five Taliban warriors for ArmySgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the government’s top investigative office said Thursday in a report that marks the latest finding of legal overreach by President Obama.
Officials neglected to give Congress a 30-day notification and illegally switched money from one account to another to conduct the swap, the Government Accountability Office said.
Speaking of Bergdahl, despite a consensus inside the military and even on the left, that he was a deserter, there’s little doubt that the lie will be rubber stamped because the alternative means exposing Obama’s noxious Rose Garden moment in which he killed two birds with one stone, distracting from the VA scandal and releasing terrorists.
The GAO said the law in this case is “clear and unambiguous.” The agency said that while the Defense Department defended the legality of the controversial swap, “in our view, DOD has dismissed the significance of the express language” in the law.
That’s typical for Obama Inc.
“The Department of Defense violated section 8111 of the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2014 when it transferred five individuals detained at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to the nation of Qatar without providing at least 30-days notice to certain congressional committees,” the Government Accountability Office said in response to a letter from Republican lawmakers, including Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, the minority leader, and Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby.
The department also violated another law that prohibits federal employees from spending money not authorized by Congress. “DOD should report its Antideficiency Act violation as required by law,” the GAO said.
There are a broken law reports that aren’t being filed.
