Personally, I would like to see the ban against Pete Rose lifted. I would like to see him reinstated. I would also like to see him elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

In a touching interview with Jeremy Schaap of ESPN, Pete Rose spoke of the reasons why he gambled on baseball, acknowledging he made a terrible mistake when he gambled and also erred in signing away his future when he was suspended. Prompted by Schaap, he concluded with a plea to Bud Selig to let him back in the game for which he has such a passion.

Compared to sports figures that were/are wife beaters, rapists, drug users, various cheaters, assorted thugs, Pete Rose's indiscretions were moderate.

I say put him in the Hall of Fame, for his performance in the game itself. Use an asterisk for his personal behavior.

I've never liked the guy.  Never.  But he and Selig need to talk.
