Anti-Capitalist Prof Makes $242K to Teach 1 Class in Fall

Isn’t it interesting how so many liberal Democrats are hypocritically guilty of the very things they publicly decry?

Consider how much Barack Obama condemns the wealthy and talks about the redistribution of wealth, yet has more than doubled his personal wealth since illegally occupying the White House. Liberal filmmaker and documentarian Michael Moore supported the Occupy Movement and spoke out against the one percenters and is himself a one percenter worth over $50 million.

Jumping into the fray of hypocritical liberal Democrats is Robert Reich. After serving in the administrations of Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, Reich became the Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton from January 1993 to January 1997. Since that time, he has served as a professor at the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government and at the Heller School of Social Policy and Management of Brandeis University. Reich has also been a contributing editor at various news agencies including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Today, he serves as the Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, a very liberal institution.

On June 29, 2014, Reich posted the following on Facebook:

“Gay pride parades and same-sex marriage victories notwithstanding, America still has a long way to go. On Friday the Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit granted a stay to stop same-sex marriage in Indiana in light of Indiana Attorney General's appeal of a lower court decision allowing it. Meanwhile, Rand Paul, who’s gaining traction as a GOP presidential hopeful, remains a steadfast opponent of marriage equality, condemning as ‘illegitimate’ a Kentucky court ruling against the state's marriage ban and reaffirming ‘the historic and religious definition of marriage.’ I wish conservatives would stop obsessing about private morality -- what happens in bedrooms between consenting adults -- and focus instead on public morality -- what happens in boardrooms among corporate executives. The moral crisis of our age has nothing to do with gay marriage or abortion; it’s insider trading, obscene CEO pay, wage theft from ordinary workers, Wall Street’s continued gambling addiction, corporate payoffs to friendly politicians, and the billionaire takeover of our democracy.” [Emphasis mine]

Note how Reich mentions ‘obscene CEO wages, wage theft from ordinary workers.’ EAGnews.org reported:

“According to the university website, Reich earned $242,613 in 2013 and is scheduled to teach one class in the 2014 fall semester and four classes in the 2014 spring semester.”

I wish I could get paid nearly a quarter of a million dollars to teach a few classes. Not only does this contribute to the high cost of attending Berkeley, but it also demonstrates that Reich is just like Obama and Moore in being a complete hypocrite who preaches one thing and does the opposite. It forces you to ask exactly what kind of economics he teaches and if his students are aware of what he practices.
