SHAME: This Texas Principal Was Fired For Promoting English in the Classroom?

If you are an immigrant who makes sure your children speak English well, you would be considered a good parent. After all, English is a language of business and prosperity. To truly be part of the American melting pot, knowing the native language is essential.

However, when a Houston-area principal told students that it would be helpful to speak English in the classroom, she was caught by the politically correct police and was fired.

Amy Lacey, former principal at Hempstead Middle School, received harsh criticism for her recommendation, then was put on paid administrative during the winter semester. Then the school board declined to renew her contract which is the same thing as firing her.

Lacey noted that because Texas’ standardized tests are in English, then it’s obvious that Hispanic students would be wise to practice their English skills. And as the Texas Education code states: “English is the basic language of this state. Public schools are responsible for providing a full opportunity for all students to become competent in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending the English language. …The mastery of basic English skills is a prerequisite for effective participation in the state’s educational program.”

Bill O’Reilly noted how strange this is, considering how conservative Texas is about their politics. But not only is Texas being flooded with illegal immigrants, the education system attracts left-wing ideologues who would take great offense at Lacey’s wise advice.
