New AP US History Curriculum Teaches False, Socialist & Racist History

After World War 2, educators realized that there was a learning gap between high school and college. Educators decided to implement Advance Placement (AP) courses in high school that were geared more towards college level to help students make the transition. Schools started using AP courses in the 1960s. I remember taking an AP English course in 1969 and had wanted to take an AP biology course but the school hadn’t yet started one.
Today, most high schools offer a variety of AP courses and many colleges look for them on transcripts. Starting this fall, a number of high schools will be using a new AP US history curriculum for nearly half a million students. That new curriculum is far from accurate and teaches a far different history than you and I learned.
To begin with, the AP history curriculum is the product of the non-profit college readiness firm College Board. It just so happens that College Board is run by David Coleman, one of the chief architects of Common Core and like most of the Common Core material that has sprung from the realm of David Coleman; it focuses not on real history but on his personal left wing agenda.
You won’t find lessons dealing with important historical figures such as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, Abraham Lincoln and a number of other Founding Fathers. Instead AP US history students will learn about the horrible treatment of American Indians and blacks by Europeans in the New World.
Our first President, George Washington barely gets mentioned and the Declaration of Independence is only referred twice. But they will hear about the Manifest Destiny which was ‘built on a belief in white racial superiority and a sense of American cultural superiority.’ They’ll also learn about ‘prominent racist and nativist theories, along with Supreme Court decisions such as Plessy v. Ferguson, were used to justify violence as well as local and national policies of discrimination and segregation.’
It also praises FDR’s New Deal and his wonderful socialist efforts to provide relief to the poor and spur the American economy. It does graciously credit America’s role in defeating the long night of tyranny in defeating Japan and Germany in World War 2, but then focuses its attention to the internment of the Japanese and how the government trampled their civil rights.
Stanley Kurtz, a conservative commentator and author described the new AP US history curriculum as:
“Pushing U.S. history as far to the left as it can get away with at the high-school level.”
Larry Krieger, a 35 year veteran of teaching US history and author of numerous AP and SAT exam books was shocked when he read the new AP US history curriculum. He commented:
“It’s relentless left-wing indoctrination. Antithetical to everything that I believe about teaching and our country’s history.”
“Leaving aside its very leftist bias, it is a very poorly written, unprofessional document.”
“When they hired David Coleman, the chief architect of Common Core, they effectively politicized the College Board. The first thing he did was to yoke the SAT to Common Core, and now we’re going to apply Common Core principles to AP courses.”
Supposedly, the top half million high school seniors throughout the nation will be taught this left wing racist propaganda, preparing them for the further liberal brainwashing they’ll receive when they enter the hallowed halls of college. These custom taught young socialists have the best chances of being our next generation of leaders. Need I say more?
