Radical Environmentalism Seeks Death Of Capitalism

Eco-Radicalism: The green lobby has finally come out and revealed its true intentions. No, a clean environment is not what it's working for. It's the death of capitalism.
For more than a quarter-century, extreme green has menaced the public with terrifying stories of apocalyptic man-made global warming.
It was all the movement had left. The environment in the developed world had been cleaned up after countries had gone through the growing pains of industrial development and economic maturity. So something else was needed to rage about.
The fright campaign culminated this month with a meeting hosted by Venezuela's government and attended by 130 green groups. The U.N.-sponsored conference, known as Social Pre-COP, produced a final version of the Margarita Declaration. All this "declaration" does is call for the death of capitalism.
"The structural causes of climate change are linked to the current capitalist hegemonic system," the declaration says. "To combat climate change it is necessary to change the system."
Any doubts that this is what environmentalists have wanted all along should be allayed by the host nation's stated government policy that capitalism is a "predator."
According to Global Climate Change News & Analysis, the declaration's supporters aren't interested in carbon trading. They don't even want to promote green economies. They just wish to kill capitalism.
In some sense, the radical environmentalists are entering their prime. After decades of spreading fear, lies and exaggerations, after a long crusade of conditioning and training the public, they at last feel safe to move on to their final solution.
With the possible exception of its earliest days, environmentalism was never about the environment or Earth. It was about replacing freedom with democratic socialism or outright statism. If it had been about the environment, green groups would have promoted capitalism and its wealth creation.
Why is capitalism better for the environment?
In part, because a prosperous nation can afford to be clean. We have the resources to mop up after ourselves and produce less-grubby industrial processes. A poorer nation can do neither. Capitalism also protects property rights, and private property is far less likely to be fouled than land that no one — or everyone — owns.
The environmental differences between capitalism and its opposite could not be better exemplified than by the gap between West Germany and East Germany. After the Berlin Wall fell, the world discovered that the mostly capitalist west was far cleaner than the shabby communist country to the east.
If the green lobby gets its way, it will reverse the environmental progress made not only in the former East Germany but in every other developed nation on Earth.
