Setting the right tone is tough for a White House that doesn’t even know it’s tone deaf.
In a lame attempt to defend the president’s near continuous jetting around the country to rub elbows with the elite – and collect bag money for Democrat coffers — White House spokesman Josh Earnest assured reporters that President Obama’s attention to the demands of office isn’t distracted by incessant demands of presidential fundraising.
“He’s got his own airplane,” Earnest explained Tuesday with his trademark smirk. He’s got dedicated phone lines, he has senior advisors who will be accompanying him every step of the way.”
His own airplane? Where did Earnest get that idea? Maybe from a president who chronically refers to the armed forces of the United States as “my military” and to the country’s intelligence community as “my national security team.”
“His own” airplane belongs to the American people – as does his time, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pointed out, according to USA Today.
“I’m not going to give him advice about how to allocate his time,: McConnell said. “But he’s certainly not spending the kind of time with the people he needs to pass legislation and convince people who have a vote who were sent her to legislate.”
Twitter users weren’t buying it either.
