Dems Pushing Bill to Eliminate ALL Restrictions on Abortions

Senate Democrats are pulling out all the stops with Senate Bill 1696. Introduced on November 13, 2013, the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2013, states:

“To protect a woman's right to determine whether and when to bear a child or end a pregnancy by limiting restrictions on the provision of abortion services.”

Please read that carefully several times. Another way of stating the bill’s purpose is:

“To eliminate all state and federal abortion restrictions in order to give women the right to murder their unborn child at any stage of development up to the time of just prior to birth without any consideration for the women’s overall safety and health.”

I urge you to go to this link and read through what this bill entails. It effectively removes every restriction, local, state or federal, that has ever been passed and signed into law. Laws that have placed certain requirements on abortion doctors for the safety of women would be nullified. Abortion doctors would no longer need hospital admitting privileges, further risking the lives of women. Restrictions against third trimester abortions would be nullified. In fact, after reading through this bill, it would completely justify and legalize everything that Dr. Gosnell did in murdering babies that survived an abortion attempt.

In Section 7 – Preemption of the bill, it states:

“No State or subdivision thereof shall enact or enforce any law, rule, regulation, standard, or other provision having the force and effect of law that conflicts with any provision of this Act.”

In other words, they intend to violate the Tenth Amendment rights of states to govern themselves and establish their own laws to protect the health of women and the rights of the unborn.

This bill will actually endanger the lives of countless women who will go to the unrestricted abortion doctors and clinics to murder their babies. The Democratic senators who are sponsoring this bill obviously care nothing for the safety of women. They are only concerned with their liberal agenda to allow the wanton first degree murder of defenseless humans simply because the mother doesn’t want to be bothered with raising them.

Please, please read the bill and then look at the names of the 31 senators who have signed their names to the bill and realize that all of them are enemies of women. The names in bold are those who are up for re-election this year:

Baldwin (D-WI), Blumenthal (D-CT), Booker (D-NJ), Boxer (D-CA), Brown (D-OH), Cardin (D-MD), Cantwell (D-WA), Coons (D-DE), Feinstein (D-CA), Franken (D-MN), Gillibrand (D-NY), Harkin (IA), Heinrich (D-NM), Hirono (D-HI), Klobuchar (D-MN), Markey (D-MA), McCaskill (D-MO), Menendez (D-NJ), Merkley (D-OR), Mikulski (D-MD), Murphy (D-CT), Murray (D-WA), Sanders (VT), Schatz (D-HI), Schumer (D-NY), Shaheen (D-NH), Stabenow (D-MI), Tester (D-MT), Warren (D-MA), Whitehouse (D-RI) and Wyden (D-OR).

Republicans running against the 8 Democrats listed above that are running for re-election should be shouting that the incumbents are purposely risking the health and lives of women with this bill. It’s the Democrats who are waging a war on women when Republicans are trying to protect the health and lives of women and their unborn children. If you live in any of these states, get active now to help defeat these liberal senators that care nothing for the wellbeing of women.

S. 1696 reached the Senate Judiciary Committee last week for discussion. During that hearing, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) went to the senate floor to testify against the bill. She held up a photo of her unborn grandson. The ultrasound image clearly shows a human child, not just a lump of unidentifiable tissue. In her testimony, Blackburn stated:

“This is the wonder of science. I could see his arms and legs, I could see him peacefully resting in his mother’s womb.”

“It is broad, loosely written. It would jeopardize hundreds of laws - laws that protect both mothers and unborn children. It would render impossible efforts by states to limit abortions based on sex of the child.”

Blackburn then told the Senate that most women favor abortion restrictions for obvious reasons:

“It is no wonder women support this – we bear life.”

Former nurse, Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) also testified in the Senate warning them that abortions do harm women and that S. 1696 will put more women at risk. She told them:

"One to 5 percent of abortions have infections, minors are up to twice as likely to experience lacerations and short term risks, and 37 percent have the risk of preterm birth in subsequent pregnancies."

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) warned about the bill violating states’ rights, saying:

“It would allow Congress to intrude on states’ rights. This is a weak political opportunity before midterms. They’re trying to appear compassionate, yet the law disregards common sense laws aimed at stopping murderers like Kermit Gosnell. The American people won’t support it.”

Democrats continued to use the same old rhetoric claiming that Republicans are waging a war on women by passing abortion restrictions which is entirely opposite of what is taking place.

Please contact your senator and representative and tell them to vote against S. 1696 and protect the health of women and the lives of the unborn throughout the United States. Share the photo of Blackburn’s unborn grandson and tell them that the unborn are humans and that they have as much of a right to live as you and I do.
