Chicago Haunted by Unexplained Shootings of Gang Members

That’s down from 60 on the Fourth of July weekend. And only four fatalities, including an 11-year-old girl.
The shootings are reported as if they’re natural events. As if the guns just started shooting. There is no context. No explanation of who and why, because then we would start getting into some troubled territory.
It’s much easier to blame the guns.
Violence continued to strike the Chicago area this weekend with at least 18 people shot in a little more than 12 hours overnight, bringing the number of people shot since Friday to 40.
Darn that violence. Why does it always keep striking? If it’s not bad enough that guns are unilaterally shooting people, now we’ve got violence acting on its own.
The violence occurred between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:00 a.m., with most of the incidents in areas west of downtown, the Chicago Tribune said.
So instead we get a long list of ages and locations who for some reason got shot.

Is this acceptable? No sir, it is not.
Police called the string of shootings “unacceptable” and said “there is clearly much more work to be done.”
But of course they’re blaming the First Amendment.
“It’s unacceptable,” Father Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Catholic Church told Chicago’s ABC7 station this month. “We wouldn’t accept it in Iraq, we shouldn’t accept it in Chicago.”
We accept a good deal worse in Iraq, as Pfleger, another of Obama’s racist clergy pals, except even sillier, knows.
But at least we’ve all agreed that it’s unacceptable and that guns are to blame. Problem solved.
Now let’s zoom in and take a closer look at those shootings.
Around 12:50 a.m., the boy was in a parked car in the 7000 block of South Winchester Avenue when someone opened fire, striking him in his arm, Estrada said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where he is in stable condition.
The boy was a documented gang member, and the shooting may have been gang-related, Estrada said.
In North Lawndale about 30 minutes earlier, a man, 19, was discovered by police on the 1200 block South Christiana Avenue with gun shot wounds in his back and foot, Estrada said.
Police said the shooting may have been gang-related, as the victim is a documented gang member.
Two men were shot in a possible gang-related shooting in Greater Grand Crossing at 12:10 a.m., according to police.
Around 11:30 p.m., four men, ages 27, 33, 31, 30, were shot in Austin.
All of the victims are documented gang members, Estrada said.
I could go on, but you get the idea. These are gang members shooting other gang members, with the occasional 11-year-old girl getting shot by accident.
This isn’t a gun violence problem. This is a gang violence problem. And yet even major mainstream outlets don’t mention the gang part.
Now notice the “documented gang member” part. A lot of shootings are hard to pin to gangs if they aren’t documented members. It still means the shooting is gang related. Cops know it. They just don’t have proof.
And the media avoids having an honest conversation about it. Instead we have violence and guns unilaterally shooting mysteriously random people for no reasons.
