 US Jews Furious Over ‘Washington Post’ Cartoon Showing Netanyahu Punching Palestinian Infant

A prominent American Jewish organization is denouncing The Washington Post for posting an animated cartoon on its YouTube channel depicting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu beating a Palestinian infant.

The caricature is aimed at apportioning blame equally between Israel and Hamas for the suffering of Gazan civilians. It was created by Ann Telnaes, one of the newspaper’s editorial cartoonists.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center declared its outrage over the cartoon. In a statement released to news agencies on Friday, the center’s associate dean, Rabbi Abraham Cooper, said the clip was “disgusting.”

“It is disgusting that The Washington Post would present an animated cartoon that is so profoundly removed from the truth,” said Cooper. “Millions of Israeli citizens—men, women, and children—have been forced into bomb shelters and saferooms by thousands of missiles and rockets targeted at them by Hamas terrorists, whose open and avowed goal is the destruction of the Jewish state.”

Thank you for saying everything I was just about too, except for you get to speak up as a Jew. Would the same people here who just called American Jews this horrible thing say the same about Catholics? After all Catholics lean Democrat. You want more Jewish people to move to the right you speak the truth, and you show that the Right is the perfect home for them and will be welcomed with open arms. I am hardly above occasional explosions of anger, myself.

In recent days and weeks, I have struggled to remain calm, focused and reasonable even while I see a world spinning increasingly toward moral inversion and behavioral madness.

I am afraid that 100 years of Progressive efforts to destroy the fabric of Western society are now bearing their bitter fruit.

Jews since the 19th century, and especially American-born Jews have inclined Leftward. I think this is a product of cultural collectivism, combined with an historical affinity for revolutionary movements that provided affiliation with opponents of antisemitic European governments, and a tradition of intellectualism in a time as now, when the intelligentsia is almost entirely dominated by Progressives.

But the world has changed. Progressives are today making common cause with Islamic radicals.

It was one thing to support Stalin in the 30s, promote the AFL and CIO in the 40s, sing along with Woody Guthrie in the 50s, or march with anti-war protesters in the 60s.

It is entirely another to make common cause with people who want to rob you and kill you. It is in fact, suicidal.

College campuses are becoming proudly openly hostile to Jews and Jewishness. Wearing a kippa on almost any college campus in America is going to bring nothing but trouble and hostility. Also, in many cases it would be dangerous for a Jew to show up at many Leftist rallies.
 
Leftism, at it's core, has always been and is today antisemitic. Obviously, there is a Jewish tradition of Leftism as exemplified by the Kibbuzim in Israel. However, when the Leftist party itself becomes anti-Jewish, it is time to make a new decision. The Obama administration has been openly described as a 'Jew hating' administration. And I do not expect that Hillary would be any better in that regard. To subbornly cling to a Party that hates you, based on nothing more than tradition is dangerous. It is time to consider a new direction.
 
America was the perfect place for Jews. An open society with a free economy and loads of religious and minority protections. Why would anyone, especially Jews, want to change that? Change it to what? Do they long for the beautiful days Jews spend under other Leftist socialist societies, like Stalin, or Hitler, or Castro?

It is always frustrating to make sense of the senseless. Perhaps in time, things tend to explain themselves in ways that history's participants could not quite envision.

I do have an overwhelming sense that we may be witnessing the very beginning of something - a coming together of believing Christians and traditional Jews, in opposition to the combined forces of both secular Progressive and Islamic radicals. As always, time will tell.
