It's basically a tank that can swim really fast and carry 200 tons.

ok.  so it's more like an armored landing craft.

Pretty much - just bigger. Sometimes wonder about designers of mil gear. It floats, can wander up the beach and climb 10 foot high obstructions. Actually pretty neat, it's like a Transformer.
