"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Mr. Turley is right.

Like ol' Mr. Franklin said to that woman in Philadelphia, "a Republic -- if you can keep it".

We are seeing how that "Republic" can be lost, before our very eyes.

There is only one Constitutionally-prescribed remedy for the Congress to "rein in" an uncontrollable president who is literally dismantling the Republic as we watch.

We all know what that remedy is.

To steal a phrase from Lord Alfred Douglas regarding the Oscar Wilde trial, it is "the punishment that dare not speak its name".

Until the Republicans in Congress are willing to speak it out loud, the destruction of the Republic will continue apace...
