ABC Commentators: Obama Won’t Get Impeached Because ‘Nobody Of Relevance Is Talking About Impeachment’ [VIDEO]

While on ABC’s “Powerhouse Roundtable” Sunday, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol and GOP strategist Ana Navarro discussed the irrelevancy of the movement for President Barack Obama’s impeachment, with Kristol simply saying, “One problem with it [impeachment] is of course you just get Joe Biden as president.”

Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, along with a few other Republicans, hopes to impeach Obama for a variety of reasons, ranging from his overuse of executive orders to the recent spike in illegal border crossings.

“No responsible elected official has called for impeachment,” Kristol said. “The Republican task is to elect a Republican Senate and elect a Republican president in 2016, not create a phony issue which allows Democrats to make Republicans look extreme.”

Kristol went on to state that for this reason, Republicans will not impeach Obama. Instead, they will work to elect a Republican House and a Republican Senate in the upcoming midterm election cycle, and then continue this trend in 2016 with a Republican president.

Navarro reiterated Kristol’s sentiment, further stating that the GOP leadership is now more focused on Speaker of the House John Boehner’s lawsuit against Obama. A lawsuit which is much more logical and relevant than impeachment.

“Nobody of responsibility, nobody in leadership, nobody of relevance has talked about impeachment,” Navarro said. “The lawsuit is about constitutional powers and separation of powers. So can we stick to talking about what people who actually can make something happen say, as opposed to what folks who want to make headlines say?”

Recently, Palin wrote an op-ed for Breitbart news, in which she talked about Obama’s lack of leadership when it comes to border control, and the necessity for impeachment.

“It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment,” Palin said. “The many impeachable offenses of Barack Obama can no longer be ignored. If after all this he’s not impeachable, then no one is.”

Unless the movement gains significantly more support among the American people, as well as in the House and Senate, impeachment remains highly improbable.

There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.
Public virtue cannot exist in a nation without private, and public virtue is the only foundation of republics. There must be a positive passion for the public good, the public interest, honour, power and glory, established in the minds of the people, or there can be no republican government, nor any real liberty: and this public passion must be superior to all private passions. John Adams
