Obama Issues Veiled Threats To Israel As Gaza Launches Thousands Of Missiles

Obama Glaring at Netanyahu

Haaretz, a decidedly far-left Israeli paper, opines that all Jews aren’t thanking Barack Obama for his call for restraint. They don’t have much of a problem with the Palestinian Authority uniting with Hamas-Fatah. They proudly published an editorial by Obama in which he praises Abbas.

In a mind-blowingly naive editorial in Haaretz on July 8, Barack Obama restated his position that a two-state solution will ensure peace and security in the region. This is while Hamas launches hundreds of bombs into Israel from Gaza. Gaza frittered away their freedom by voting Islamo-Fascists into office.

He praised Mahmoud Abbas while Gaza tries to annihilate Israel.

How long before the West demands Israel stop defending itself?

Imagine living in New York and having bombs lobbed in daily and running to air raid shelters day-after-day. Would we put up with that?

Some, like former Ambassador Bolton, would rather see Israel destroy Hamas once and for all. That would be a real solution for some of the problems in the region.

In his Haaretz editorial, Obama praised the Palestinian war mongering anti-Semite, Mahmoud Abbas. “In President Abbas, Israel has a counterpart committed to a two-state solution and security cooperation with Israel,” Obama wrote.

Abbas is demanding a pullback to 1967 borders and possession of East Jerusalem. Israel couldn’t defend their tiny country with some of their land outside that territory.

Prior to writing the article, Obama issued a brief statement after the murders of the three teens, one an American-Israeli. Obama’s spokesperson at State urged all parties to exercise restraint as if there was moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel.

Obama reiterated the call for restraint in the editorial. “All parties must protect the innocent and act with reasonableness and restraint, not vengeance and retribution,” Obama wrote.

Obama wrote that the U.S. was disappointed that the American peace plan for Israel and Palestine fell apart.

Most Americans thought it was foolhardy and a waste of time to negotiate with terrorists. He doesn’t speak for most Americans.

If you remember, Obama wants Israel to negotiate with Hamas. Mahmoud Abbas formed a coalition government with Hamas-Fatah.

Hamas expressed joy over the kidnapping of the Israeli teens. Obama made no mention of that.

Obama made no mention of the fact that the murderers of the Israeli teens are free, enjoying exalted status for their crime, while the murderers of the Palestinian teen were arrested and will be brought to justice.

He had words of praise for Abbas: “And, in President Abbas, Israel has a counterpart committed to a two-state solution and security cooperation with Israel.”

He was serious.

He lauded the liberal Shimon Peres while repeating praise of the friend-to-terrorists, Mahmoud Abbas: Shimon Peres has been a dauntless advocate for Israel’s security, and last month, in his historic meeting with President Abbas and Pope Francis at the Vatican, he put it simply: “Without peace,” he said, “we are not complete.”

Words. Vain and empty words.

There were no compliments for Netanyahu.

Obama threatened Israel over the peace process he wants Netanyahu to engage in with the terrorists who have said they want the complete destruction of Israel: “When the political will exists to recommit to serious negotiations, the United States will be there, ready to do our part,” Obama said, later adding “For all that Israel has accomplished, for all that Israel will achieve, Israel cannot be complete and it cannot be secure without peace.”

We will be there for them if they do as we want.

Netanyahu sees it differently as he continues into the fifth day of Operation Protective Edge.  He will not be pressured into giving up control of the West Bank.

“At present we have a problem with the territory called Gaza,” the prime minister said. But he noted that the West Bank is 20 times the size of Gaza, and vowed that he was not prepared “to create another 20 Gazas” in the West Bank.

“I think the Israeli people understand now what I always say: that there cannot be a situation, under any agreement, in which we relinquish security control of the territory west of the River Jordan” — a reference to the Jordan Valley and the West Bank — as Kerry had urged during a US-led peace effort that collapsed in April.

“I told John Kerry and General Allen, the Americans’ expert: We live here, I live here, I know what we need to ensure the security of Israel’s people.”

“Adjacent territory has huge importance,” Netanyahu said, and could be used by terrorists to dig tunnels and to fire rockets. The closer terrorists can get to Israel’s borders, he said, the more rockets they fire — as the current conflict was proving.
