Another School Stabbing – Do We Need Knife Control Laws?

In April of 2013, the Cy-Fair campus of Lone Star College in Texas was terrorized by a lone knifeman who went on a stabbing spree, knifing 14 students in the bloody process.
In October of 2013, 25 year old Chen Mingdong took a kitchen knife and stabbed his cousin’s wife and her four kids that ranged from 1 year old to 9 years old. New York police were called to the apartment where they kept banging on the door before finally gaining entrance. Once inside the apartment, they found Mingdong covered in blood and the bodies of Qiao Zhen Li and her 5 year old son Kevin Zhou. As police searched the apartment, they found the bodies of the other three kids in a back bedroom.
In October of 2013, Kaiyu Lao, 21 and Zesen Shen, 18, were arrested for stabbing another 20 year old student at the Indiana University campus apartments early Sunday morning during a fight in the parking lot.
In my own area, there was a stabbing that took place In October 2013. A pair of brothers got into a fight with one of them stabbing the other in the head and leg. Back in August 2013, James Pearson, 51 used a box cutter to slash the chest and stomach of another man. Also in October 2013, three more people in the Cincinnati area were stabbed. Richard Grove, 64, his wife Sharon, 58, and their son Matthew, 23, were all found to have stab wounds following a family dispute.
In April 2013, 34 year old Vietnamese man named Kiet Than Ly entered a Smith’s store in Salt Lake City, Utah. He purchased a knife and started to leave the store. As he reached the parking lot, he pulled out the knife and began stabbing other customers and shouting:
“You killed my people! You killed my people!”
As Ly looked for a third victim, a 47 year old man with a conceal carry permit saw what was happening. He pulled out his gun and told LY to drop the weapon or he would shoot him. Ly complied and dropped the knife and was subdued by Smith employees. They held him in custody until the police arrived.
Last year, I posted a list of 13 stabbings that happened in just the month of April.
Now I would like to report a stabbing at another gun free zone school. This week, a student’s mother showed up at the Edouard Herriot primary school in Albi, France and stabbed a 34 year old teacher in front of students. I know this took place in France, but France has many of the gun control laws that Obama and the Democrats are pushing for.
According to GunPolicy.org:
“In France, only licensed gun owners (for certain arms) may lawfully acquire, possess or transfer a firearm or ammunition.”
“Applicants for a gun owner’s licence in France are required to prove genuine reason to possess a firearm, for example, hunting, target shooting, personal protection, security.”
“An applicant for a firearm licence in France must pass a background check which considers criminal, mental and health.”
“In France, third party character references for each gun licence applicant are not required.”
“In France gun owners must re-apply and re-qualify for their firearm licence every three to five years.”
“In France, authorities maintain a record of individual civilians licensed to acquire, possess, sell or transfer a firearm or ammunition.”
“Licensed firearm owners in France are permitted to possess a limited number of firearms.”
“Licensed firearm owners in France are permitted to possess a limited quantity of ammunition.”
None of those laws prevented the violence that just happened at the primary school. If people who are determined to carry out violence on others don’t have access to a firearm, they will find an alternative weapon to use, be it a knife, club, car, hammer, poison or a myriad of other weapons.
Yet I hear no one calling for knife control laws even though there are many stabbings taking place on a daily basis here in the US and abroad. That’s because it’s not about the violence or saving lives. If they were that concerned about saving lives, they’d outlaw tobacco that kills many times more people than guns or knives do combined.
It’s all about gun control and disarming the American people. Once that has been done, the nation will belong to the socialists and we will become as enslaved as the people in communist and dictatorial countries. All freedoms will be lost. All rights will be lost. We will be forced to be obedient to the government or face imprisonment and/or death. Frankly, I’m willing to face death to stand up for my rights, are you?
