Rep. Chaffetz: Romney Will Run – and Win – in 2016
Monday, July 7, 2014 10:54 PM

By: Greg Richter

Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president in 2012, has repeatedly said he will not run again in 2016, but Rep. Jason Chaffetz doesn't believe him.

In fact, the Utah Republican not only thinks Romney will run, he thinks he will win.

"I think he actually is going to run for president. He probably doesn't want me to say that," Chaffetz said Monday on MSNBC's "Hardball."

"A hundred times he says he's not, but Mitt Romney has always accomplished what he's set out to do," Chaffetz told host Chris Matthews. "I think he's proven right on a lot of stuff. I happen to be in the camp that thinks he's actually going to run, and I think he will be the next president of the United States."

I like Romney the man, but he doesn't have the fire, nor the conservative nature I want in a president.

I really don't think the GOPe want to win elections.  They're fine collecting their perks and going to all the nifty parties.   :#@$%:

Yep.  They remind me of neutered dogs, content to eat and sleep.   I don't think they want anything to change, so why fight it?  Now, they've got a formula for success.  Hit the podium and pander to your base every election, rally up the donors and get re-elected.  Then, go back to eating and sleeping.

Yet how many who complain about them are content to simply complain about them?

Putting the leftward march the country is seemingly taking aside, Mitt Romney will surely be able to say "I TOLD YOU SO!" regarding multiple topics in any national campaign.

Once the protected "black guy" is not a candidate, the GOP should be able to make a clear case for a change to Republican leadership.

My 'problem' with Romney is that he's much too decent a man and doesn't handle himself well when he's being played.....for example, the out-of left-field 'Contraception' question by George Stepha...how ever you spell it....nopolis.

And he allowed Candy Crowley to get away with the Benghazi "did he call it terrorism" bullshit.

He's better off playing the dad in My Three Sons.   We need somebody else.

It's true that Romney would have been a thousand times better as President and I voted for him for that reason.  He has a lot of valuable skills.  Like you said DC, I don't see him as much as a fighter and we need a scrappy fighter right now that won't back down.  I personally, am tired of this "gentleman across the aisle" stuff that worked back when we were a semi-civilized society.  Even back then, there were progressives plotting their take-over - and they patiently and passionately took over the Democrat party.

They won't compromise and they don't give a damn what you think or what you want.  They've got the keys to the White House and they're not going to give them back.  We need to start fighting them like the deadly enemy they are and I'm just not seeing much of a push-back right now considering what is going on all around us with each new scandal du jour.

Problem is that you'll have the protected "woman" as a candidate and the GOP will be 'foiled again'.  D'oh!

Just setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men...

If Conservatives (and so-called Conservatives) did more than sat in pontification societies, trying to out-do the next guy down in the "wry observation dept", we might actually get somewhere.  It's not like we don't have the tools to connect and act at our disposal.  There seems to be no problem requesting donations.
Example, Glenn Beck "9/12", yeah, people met, then what?

I came to that conclusion long ago. It's helped my blood pressure to view the playing field and realize we can't score 10 touchdowns in 2 minutes with a team of 11 against a team of 111.

I think Romney is waiting to see what Jeb Bush is going to do.  His deal with the Bushes was that Jeb would step aside in 2012 and if Romney lost, Romney would step aside in 2016 for Jeb.  I think Jeb is trying to figure out what Hillary is going to do.  I think Jeb will stay out of the race if Hitlery is in, thinking it can't be won.  That would open the door for Romney to try again.

They work these things out in the country club, don't ya know, and then we fight like hell to keep them from controlling the party, but in the end the money always seems to win.

I was never a Romney supporter, until I saw him in person speaking and interacting with the audience.  I went to 3 of his rallies and one with  Romney and Ryan. I watched all the interviews, and read up on his personal life etc... He is a very decent and passionate man.  Something that didn't come across on the TV.  If he had the fire in his belly like he had in the first debate with obama, and could keep that fire through a whole campaign, then I say go for it! If not then give him a cabinet position, should we win.

More likely that it would be the same as a Bush win.

The Clintoons and the Bushes are joined at the hip...

Oh, I know what we should do. Let's sit around and make broad, sweeping generalizations about conservatives, instead. That should help.

The gop if it puts any more rhinos in will lose conservatives who do fight legally not criminally like the gop leadership did in Mississippi. I am tired of voting for the least of evil. I and many many others will do a write in. I don't care if Hilliary gets in if the gop runs a rhino because there is no difference between the two candidates no matter what you people here think. The country is almost gone and the gop will be the one to push it over if they continue to be for the old white rhinos and don't give us a real leader. Mitt Romney is not a fighter he may be a nice guy but we need a real fighter and a real conservative or we hand over the country once and for all to socialism which rhinos and democrats seem to want.

Here is how it's supposed to work, I've been told this by the establishment types so it must be true:

Vote for the Republican, no matter what. Now, that Republican likely doesn't share your values, considers you a misanthrope, and will govern like a Democrat. But that's ok, because it's all about winning elections. When we get enough of those people in place, then the Republicans will control things.

I just haven't figured out, nor have I had it explained to me, how electing someone who dislikes my kind, and governs like a Democrat, will do me any good at all.
