"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Questions:

Just what is going to be done with these tens upon tens of thousands of "children"?

In the old days, there were orphanages, but these are not orphans.

There is no public housing for them.

Many are too young to work, even if there were jobs for them.

How are they going to be sheltered? Raised?

I'm reminded of Ayn Rand's "We The Living", where the heroine (Kira) and her lover are forced by the government to take in strangers because they had an extra room.

Could it happen here?

I am not familiar with that work, but have had a similar thought - especially after Mr. M and I built a house that turned out larger than we expected. I wouldn't be surprised if this administration tried to force those of us with extra space to take in those "in need."

It happened here during the war. Tens of thousands of children put up with total strangers to get them out of harms way. It's not exactly the same problem - history is more Jazz than a recording - but it has been done before.

I wouldn't object to helping my countrymen - especially innocent children - in such a circumstance. Being forced to house illegals, however, is not an appealing prospect.
