In Wake Of Hobby Lobby Ruling, MSNBC Reporter Declares ‘An All-Out Assault On Access To Contraceptives’ [VIDEO]

Finally putting the Hobby Lobby case to rest, the Supreme Court ruled Monday that corporations cannot be forced to provide contraception coverage for their employees.

NBC News’ justice correspondent Pete Williams described the 5-4 decision in favor of Hobby Lobby “as narrow as possible.”

Refuting “slippery slope” concerns about the ruling, Williams explained, “The court is making it very clear that they’re trying to limit this just to this question of the contraception mandate to companies that are family owned, closely held and have clearly established religious views.”

MSNBC national reporter Irin Carmon begged to differ.

MSNBC host Craig Melvin asked her, “Is this going to be seen as a complete and utter defeat for women’s reproductive rights or is that an overstatement?” Carmon took the bait.

“I mean just because it was only restricted to women’s health access does not mean that it doesn’t create a devastating precedent, which says that women’s health care should be treated differently,” Carmon asserted.

“Millions of women use contraception everyday. They don’t think their IUD is abortion, because it isn’t. So treating women’s health care differently, I think, is gonna have … is gonna resonate,” she continued.

Carmon then went on to attack the Republican Party for trying to shut down Title X, a program that gives low-income people birth control, and for attempting to defund Planned Parenthood.

“So the context of this is an all-out assault on access to contraception and to other reproductive health care services,” concluded Carmon.

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
