The White House said it was releasing how much money U.S. taxpayers pay for Obama's staff in order to remain "consistent with President Obama's commitment to transparency."

This job is not new in the WH, probably an official position since the founding (formally documenting historical documents). The average salary for one in 2010 is over $50K* so the pay rate seems normal for a White House historical position.

It is something that yep, we probably should review the continued need for with new technology but I won't really say this is an overt waste or anything new.
