Tea Party Group May Have Found 800 Illegal Votes in One County Alone Following MS Runoff Election

If you want to know what the GOP establishment thinks of the Tea party, you really don’t have to look anywhere other than Mississippi, with the U.S. Senate race between Sen. Thad Cochran (who has been in office since the Nixon administration!) and conservative Chris McDaniel, an activist and former radio host.
With nasty fliers sent out to black voters to scare them into getting involved in an election, Cochran saw incredible turnout for him in pro-Obama voting districts.
With weird election rules allowing non-Republicans to vote in a race, certain anonymous people utilized the worst kind of nasty, racial politics.
It is clear Cochran used the “nuke” button to save his own tail, and now we’re learning just how far it went…

Tea party-backed challenger Chris McDaniel still isn’t conceding to six-term Sen. Thad Cochran in the Mississippi Republican primary runoff, but some groups that spent millions supporting McDaniel are walking away. McDaniel supporters are examining poll books to try to find people who voted in a Democratic primary June 3 and the Republican runoff Tuesday.
“This is being done to maintain the integrity of the election process and that a fair and honest election was held on behalf of all Mississippians,” McDaniel said in a written statement Thursday.
Mississippi voters don’t register by party, but state law bars a person from voting in one party’s primary and the other party’s runoff.
Cochran topped McDaniel by nearly 6,800 votes Tuesday after an expensive and hard-fought race in which tea party groups tried to unseat a former Appropriations Committee chairman. Cochran finished with 51 percent. McDaniel criticizes Cochran for courting Democrats in a state where most blacks vote Democratic and most whites vote Republican. Turnout jumped in several majority-black counties, boosting Cochran. Club for Growth, which spent more than $3.1 million to help McDaniel, acknowledges Cochran as the winner.
“We are proud of the effort we made in Mississippi’s Senate race and we congratulate the winner,” Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said Wednesday. “We expect that Senator Cochran and others gained a new appreciation of voter frustration about the threats to economic freedom and national solvency.”
Here is Rush Limbaugh bashing the establishment for being so rough on a conservative. Just imagine if this much effort was used to defeat Democrats!

RUSH: You know, we had a call just like you yesterday. We had a guy call here and say, “Rush, I don’t care. I am not — you know, the Republican Party tells us we gotta be loyal and we’ve gotta unify. We gotta join together every time the Tea Party loses. Screw it. Not when they play like this.” We have a guy, Larry from Mississippi, saying that he is gonna vote for the Democrat. And let me tell you something. I totally understand it. What good is Thad Cochran gonna be? At some point these people have to be cleared out. Now, in voting for the Democrat you could be maintaining Harry Reid in office as the Senate majority leader. It’s possible. For a lot of years people have been using analogies like that. “No, you’ve gotta stay loyal to the party. Otherwise we’re never gonna get rid of Harry Reid.” At some point it’s not just Harry Reid is the problem. I mean, I totally understand.
This guy, Chris McDaniel, has been a loyal Republican all of his life, and has had this kind of smear campaign run against him by the party to whom he has been loyal all of his life. The Republican establishment eager to have him defeated might have played a role in ginning up all of these racial voters, the basis that the Tea Party’s racist and so forth. You know, it’s understandable to me your attitude. Gotta clear the deadweight out of there. And if it means that the Democrats hold power for a little longer, so be it. But this has gotten serious to a lot of people, this kind of thing. If you take a look at what happened on the ground in Mississippi on Tuesday, conservatives won the primary. More Republicans voted for McDaniel than Cochran in the runoff. If it hadn’t been for the eight or nine percent of the vote that was African-American voting for old Thad, Thad would not have won. The Republican Party Tea Party candidate would have.
Yet the RINOs are running around claiming they crushed the Tea Party when the truth is they lost the party. They won the election and they lost the party. In a Republican primary, the Republican victor needed Democrat votes to win. And in order to pull that off, the Republican majority, or the RINOs, resorted to race-baiting. Now, who wants to be part of that future, if that’s what the future of the Republican Party is?
Update: Just a sign of how crazy this race was, the lawyer involved in the nursing home story has killed himself. How tragic! From The Clarion Ledger:
Sources have confirmed that attorney Mark Mayfield has committed suicide. Mayfield, vice chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party, and is one of the three men charged with conspiring with Clayton Kelly to photograph U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran’s bedridden wife in her nursing home and create a political video against Cochran. Mark Mayfield of Ridgeland, an attorney and state and local tea party leader, was arrested last month along with Richard Sager, a Laurel elementary school P.E. teacher and high school soccer coach.
Police said they also charged John Beachman Mary of Hattiesburg, but he was not taken into custody because of “extensive medical conditions.” All face felony conspiracy charges. Sager also was charged with felony tampering with evidence, and Mary faces two conspiracy counts. The arrest of Mayfield, well-known in political, business and legal circles, caused shock in Mississippi, in a criminal case and election that already had Mississippi in the national spotlight.
