Obama Steps Up ‘Asylum and Release’ of Illegal Immigrants

exodus to US

Thousands ride trains heading for the U.S.

The Obama administration on Friday announced major policy changes to step up enforcement of existing immigration laws. His idea of doing that is to add more detention centers and to send them to live with relatives.

He is sending more immigration judges and asylum officers to speed up the process – not law enforcement officers but asylum officers. He is giving lawyers to every unaccompanied child.

Our existing law requires us to send them home not give them asylum.

We can expect at least 130,000 minors alone this year.

The average age of unaccompanied minors crossing the border is 14 years, younger than in the past, and hundreds of toddlers under the age of two are being sent over the border with older children and smugglers.

From October 1, 2013 to June 11, Border Patrol detained 378 unaccompanied children ages two or younger, according to data obtained by Fusion from the office of a high-ranking Democratic senator. Of those children, 95 were infants under 1 year old.

What kind of child abusers send their children and babies across a border unaccompanied? Many undoubtedly plan to follow at some point if their children make it through. Some are already here and were willing to risk the lives and welfare of their children to get them here. These are the people who are our future and who we want to grow our nation?

Then there are the migrants. Hundreds are crossing the Rio Grande every day. Alleged families are amassing on the border, waiting for their opportunity to cross. According to border agents, men and women join up with children and pretend they are families because of Mr. Obama’s policy of not separating families. All these families are released on their own recognizance and told to report for deportation/asylum hearings.

People with handicapped children are crossing to get services. Having worked with the handicapped, those services can cost taxpayers between $30,000 and $300.000 a year or more per child.

In Lawrenceville, residents were able to turn the government away after they proposed to use the defunct St. Paul’s College as a shelter. The town is impoverished and cannot afford to be burdened by illegal immigrant children.

A border agent speaking anonymously to alternative media told them, “We do get our isolated cases of people with tuberculosis. There may be a couple that come through that admit to having a communicable disease, but really we don’t check for communicable diseases, that’s not part of the screening process. Unless they tell us they’re sick, we have facilities for that.”

Journalist Daniel Greenfield reports in Front Page Magazine that a “persistent strain of Tuberculosis” is now appearing in some Los Angeles neighborhoods with as many as 4500 exposed.

Greenfield writes: “Besides California and Florida, the states with the greatest number of multi-drug-resistant TB are Texas and New York, all having large numbers of illegal aliens within their borders. Florida was recently ranked as having the third largest illegal alien population by the Department of Homeland Security. Many illegals in Florida come from the Caribbean and other countries in the Southern Hemisphere, some of which have widespread problems with tuberculosis.”

TB is highly contagious and victims are most likely to be the young, the elderly and the sick. One Nepalese man crossing the border illegally had a deadly strain of TB  - XDR – which is extensively drug resistant, according to Greenfield. By the time agents realized he had it, the illegals who were housed with him, were long gone and sent to other parts of the country.

America is well on its way to becoming a well-developed welfare state without borders and with insufficient resources to care for the poor, sick, handicapped, and criminal who are being invited here by Mr. Obama. In one school I worked in here on Long Island, five of the special education classes were almost solely illegal immigrants from El Salvador and The Dominican. Each child cost a minimum of over $30,000 per year to educate. All were on free lunch.

There is an increase in the number of OTM’s, Other Than Mexican, on the border and some come from terrorist nations, often posing as Latinos.

Drug cartel members are also making it through. We know that we only capture one-third of those crossing.

gang tatoos are ignored

Youth with gang tattoos are released on their own recognizance.

Rep. Michael McCaul, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Management, released a Majority Staff report entitled “A Line in the Sand: Countering Crime, Violence and Terror at the Southwest Border,” detailing the Subcommittee’s findings regarding the increased presence of Middle East terrorist networks in Latin America and their growing relationship with drug cartels.

The November 2012 report– a follow-up to a 2006 report by Subcommittee Chairman McCaul on the threat Mexican drug cartels pose to the Southwest border – documents increased operational control of Mexican drug cartels inside the U.S., their strategy to move illegal drugs, and the bloody turf wars that have taken place between rival cartels, as they struggle to control valuable trafficking corridors.

Furthermore, the report closely examines the increased presence and influence of Iran and Hezbollah in Latin America and their relationship with drug cartels, including:

· Hezbollah’s known money laundering and major fundraising activities in Latin America;

· documentation that shows a relationship between Hezbollah and Mexican drug cartels as early as 2005; and

· the potential for Hezbollah operatives to use their alliances with the cartels to cross into the U.S. undetected through cartel-controlled smuggling routes across the Southwest border.

For his trouble in following up on the problem, the left-wing media continually accuses him of criminal activity and the left puts up Libertarian candidates to run against him to keep him from winning re-election.

The obligatory picture:

There's a blurb up on Drudge:
http://www.latintimes.com/most-latino-workers-are-us-born-and-not-immigrants-new-study-finds-184938
Forty million "immigrants".
Just how many of them are "illegal"?

How many more are coming?
Thousands?
Tens of Thousands?
Hundreds of Thousands?
How many?
Take a look at the train above for a portent of the future.

We've reached the point where there doesn't seem to be anything resembling "border control" any longer. The DHS is even PAYING to have illegals escorted across.

What was once the Land of the Free has degenerated into the Land of Free Entry.

Just get here, and we'll do everything possible to make you comfortable.
Just get here, and you're all-but "American".
Don't worry, the right to vote is comin' soon afterwards!
And remember who to vote FOR!
Who? ... the political party that tore down the border, of course!

Folks, isn't it just amazin' that there are still "Republicans" in Congress who are still pushing for "immigration reform" ??

And what's MORE amazin' is that there are folks right here in this forum, who'll tell me that I -have to- keep voting for these clowns (no, wait, even clowns have more sense).

Why ??

Obama Blocks Officers From Stopping ‘Dreamers’

Posted By Neil Munro On 8:59 PM 06/23/2014 In | No Comments

President Barack Obama is blocking several simple actions that would quickly stop the rising flood of migrant youths and adults crossing the Texas border, according to border officials and immigration reformers.

If officials wanted to block the “Dream Deluge” of Central Americans youths, for example, “they would stop releasing them to family members [in the U.S., and] make sure they’re in long-term detention until they could either verify an asylum claim or a claim for persecution,” said Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council.

Immigration officials could make sure the youths’ parents are legal residents before they transfer the children and youths, and then deport the parents if they’re here illegally, said Moran, whose council serves as a union for border patrol officers.

But Obama’s appointees say “the whole goal of the process is family unification, so we’re not allowed to even ask the legal status of whosoever is picking them up,” he said.

“If they could do this very routine immigration enforcement, it would be a hugely powerful disincentive to keep trying to smuggle the kids,” said Jessica Vaughan, policy director at the Center for Immigration Studies, an organization that opposes the president’s immigration reform plan.

Immigration officers “know what an effect it has on deterring the smuggling, they’ve asked to do it, but they’ve been told no, and that’s why the career personnel are so frustrated,” she said.

“They know what it take to stop this, but they’re not allowed to do,” she said.

A June 21 CNN article described how two illegals — one named “Ana” — used a relay of coyotes, border agents and employees at the Department of Health and Human Services to deliver their two children from El Salvador to Lo Angeles.

“It’s unclear how far the smuggler may or may not have accompanied the children across the Rio Grande, Ana said [but] two weeks later, Ana received a phone call from a U.S. immigration official [saying] the official had Ana’s children in custody… A month later, HHS social workers called Ana [and] arranged for Ana to pick up her kids at Los Angeles International Airport.”

The agencies’ treatment of “unaccompanied minors,” is very different from the larger flow of adults with their kids. That’s because federal law requires “unaccompanied minors” be turned over to the Department of Health and Human Services until they can be sent to caregivers. Youths and men aged up to 20 can also also seek a Green Card on the grounds that they’ve been abused or abandoned by parents.

But the administration has plenty of leeway in how it applies the various laws.

For example, the law says that youths are to be released to parents or other guardians, except if a “determination is made that the detention of such juvenile is required to secure his or her timely appearance before the Service or the Immigration Court,” according to section 236.3(b)(1)(iii) of the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.

Advocates for immigrants, however, are pushing to maximize their chance of staying. The youths “have rights even though they’re in [immigration] proceedings,” said David Leopold, an Ohio-based immigration lawyer and the former president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Moran and other agents have complained about the many new rules the administration has imposed on their mission.

“We’re very restricted in how we’re allowed to operate,” Moran said.

“We’re not allowed do immigration checks at transportation hubs, unless we have specific actionable intelligence,” he said.

“We’re not allowed to do farm and ranch checks [and] we’re not allowed to do interior patrols,” he said.

“We’re not allowed to touch” smugglers and migrants while they’re crossing the Rio Grande, supposedly because of “safety issues,” he said.

“We’re still being controlled in how many hours we can work… [and are] now limited to nine-hour shifts,” he said. “We don’t have the full manpower out in the field,” he said.

“We have gaps in coverage that are a direct result of managerial decisions,” because managers are rewarded for minimizing operational costs, and for having low numbers of illegals in their zone, he said. “Managers aren’t getting cash bonuses for arresting people — they’re getting cash bonuses for reducing operational costs or reducing the amount of gasoline they use,” he said.

There’s also little expectation that Obama’s appointees will try to deport the youths and kids once they are released from HHS.

In 2012, Obama ordered immigration officials to stop deporting younger illegal immigrants — who are dubbed ‘dreamers’ by immigration advocates — and instead allow employees to give them two-year residency permits.

The lax policy is being extended this year. On June 12, for example, Jeh Johnson, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said officials would deal with the youths according to current priorities. Obama’s priorities largely bar any deportation of illegals who have not also been convicted of a felony. In 2013, for example, Obama’s deputies deported less than 0.2 percent of illegals, not counting illegals who were deported after committing a felony.

Also, Johnson and other officials say they want to keep families intact. “Family unification for a child is something that is critical, so I want to see every child with a parent who is able to take care of him,” Johnson said June 12.

Once youths cross the border, “our goal is to quickly and safely transport the children… into a safe and secure environment that is in the best interests of the children,” he said.

In December, a federal judge said the administration is actually working to block enforcement of immigration law. The Department of Homeland Security “should cease telling the citizens of the United States that it is enforcing our border security laws because it is clearly not… Worse, it is helping those who violate these laws,” said Judge Andrew Hanen.

Even if they show up for the court cases, the youths can spent several years in the United States before exhausting legal appeals.

To aid the youths, the administration is paying at least $2 million to fund 100 immigration lawyers and paralegals.

Roughly 12 million illegals are living in the United States. That number is roughly four times the number of the 18-year-old Americans in the United States.

Since last October, roughly 50,000 supposedly unaccompanied children and youths have crossed into the United States. Federal officials say that kids and youths deemed to be aged 17 and below are “unaccompanied minors” if they cross without a parent, even if their coyotes are delivering them to the custody of the federal immigration authorities.

In addition, roughly 30,000 children and adults have crossed into the United States in family-like groups.

Some Republicans have said the White House has invited the wave of Central American illegals, partly to boost flagging support among Latino citizens.

“Probably over 40,000 individuals have been released… and after you’ve traveled thousands of miles, and you’ve paid thousands of dollars and went through a very difficult situation, you get over here and they tell you to appear [in court] at 90 days, I would say that the vast majority are not going to show up,” Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, said on the June 23 Laura Ingraham radio show.

Obama to Give Central American Countries $250 Mil to Send More Illegals

Posted By Daniel Greenfield On June 23, 2014 @ 10:31 am In The Point | 13 Comments

Officially this money is supposed to discourage illegal immigration, in reality it sends the message that if a lot of illegal aliens from your country come and create a crisis, the United States will send you huge piles of money.

It encourages the very behavior that it claims to be discouraging.

The White House announced $254.6 million in new aid for Central American countries today.

The money will go toward returning unaccompanied minors who travel to the U.S. illegally to their families and fostering youth centered programs in their home countries, the White House said this afternoon.

The assistance to the governments of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras announced today is in addition to the $130 million in aid the U.S. already provides those countries in economic assistance.

And the governments are reacting entirely predictable… with more blackmail demands.

“As long as (U.S.) immigration reform is not approved, the exodus of children to the United States will continue,” Jorge Ramon Hernandez, the senior representative of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, said at the talks.

Sure. Beatings will continue until morale improves. Kipling covered this one adequately enough.

It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say: –
“We invaded you last night–we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you’ve only to pay ‘em the Dane-geld
And then  you’ll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say: –
“Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve  proved it again and  again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
 For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: –

“We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
 No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that pays it is lost!”

Except that now weak and small nations can also invade us.

55,000-sq-ft Child Migrant Holding Facility to Rise in Texas

The Associated Press is reporting that the Department of Homeland Security is building a huge holding center near the border with Mexico to accommodate the surge of undocumented children entering the country.

Quote
The permits, obtained by the Associated Press on Monday through a public records request, reveal plans for four fence-enclosed pods inside a corrugated steel warehouse in McAllen that could eventually accommodate about 1,000 children."

This development comes as comprehensive immigration reform remains out of reach, as government officials are still pushing their preferred solutions to the recent child migrant surge. Since October, more than 52,000 children have been apprehended on the U.S./Mexico border as part of an influx blamed on gang violence in Central America and rumors of permits allowing migrants to stay.

Authorities can't agree on what to do. In the House, Democrats have introduced a bill that would provide the kids with immigration lawyers. Meanwhile Republicans are pushing for increased border security, and some officials are penning pleas to parents to stop sending their kids.

More immigration lawyers

During a press conference on Monday, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries said it's a "fantasy to believe that they have a fair shot in immigration proceedings without counsel," according to Reuters. He and other lawmakers supporting the bill argue that 40 to 50 percent of undocumented children would win the right to stay in the U.S., according to studies by the United Nations, and the country could save $2 billion it now spends on housing.

Secure the border

Sen. Ted Cruz joined with Attorney General Greg Abbott to call on the federal government to address the crisis with a two step plan. “We need to act to stop it, number one, by finally securing the borders and, number two, by not offering amnesty, which only incentivizes more people to violate the law,” Cruz said, according to The Los Angeles Times. The two acknowledge that this is sad, and the children go through horrifying conditions to reach the border, but blame Obama's "lawlessness" for inspiring policies that led to rumors that "permisos" that grant amnesty to stay exist.  ...
