A 31-year-old Texas man knew he had HIV when he had sex with a 15-year-old girl, but didn't tell her and ultimately infected her with the disease, authorities said.
Matthew Louis Reese pleaded guilty in Dallas court on Tuesday to three charges, including aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon, for repeatedly having sex with the girl without a condom while keeping the disease from her during their seven-month relationship in 2012 and 2013, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Prosecutors in the case asked a judge to sentence Reese to serve consecutive sentences for a total of 95 years behind bars.
Judge Pat McDowell was expected to make a decision Wednesday, the newspaper said.
Reese and the girl, now 17, met when she called a chat line in December 2012, the Morning News reported.
The girl's parents actually caught them on the phone, but Reese lied to them and told them he was 18.
Sometime later, the two met in person at a suburban Dallas movie theater, where Reese persuaded the girl to have sex with him in a car, saying if she didn't "it would make a man want to cheat."
The girl was a virgin at the time, the Morning New said.
