Dinesh D’Souza: Media Suck Up To Obama Because Of ‘Slavery’

Posted By Jamie Weinstein On 10:55 PM 06/17/2014 In | No Comments

In his new book, Dinesh D’Souza argues that the media refuse to go after Barack Obama because of slavery.

The author and documentarian defended his provocative claim in an extensive interview about his recently released book, “America: Imagine A World Without Her.” TheDC will be featuring segments from the interview throughout the week.

“How, for example, did Obama get elected as complete unknown? How did he get reelected when the economy was doing so badly? Why do the media give him a personal honeymoon?” D’Souza writes in the book. “There is a one-word answer: slavery.”

When asked to explain the statement, D’Souza said, “There is a desperate desire on the part of many Americans, particularly in the media, for the first African-American president not to fail.”

“If Obama was Jimmy Carter, he would be hounded right now,” he continued. “If he was Bill Clinton, the uproar would be deafening. But because it’s Obama, everybody is in jitters. Because it’s Obama, there are people in the press who go, ‘this is very bad for him, let’s downplay it. This is very good news for him, let’s trumpet it.’ Chris Matthews said very explicitly, ‘we have to do what we can to help this man succeed.’”

“So, now, what’s ironic of course is that America suffers from the pathology of race and the legacy of slavery,” D’Souza went on. “Obama is not descended from slaves on either side of his family. His father — sometimes people say his father was an immigrant. His father was not an immigrant. His father was a foreign student who came to America and then went back to Africa. So Obama is not a direct descendent of slaves at all, but because he is African American or of mixed race descent, he benefits from the peculiarity of race as it plays out in the history of this country.”

Abraham Lincoln:

There is no grievance that is a fit object of redress by mob law.
--January 27, 1838 Lyceum Address

Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties. And not to Democrats alone do I make this appeal, but to all who love these
great and true principles.

Let us then turn this government back into the channel in which the framers of the Constitution originally placed it.
