Another Act of Domestic Terrorism at a Substation Near the Border

Nogales

There has been another attack on a power station. This time it was at an electricity substation run by UniSource Energy Services In Nogales Arizona.

We freely allow hordes of people – strangers – to come across our borders illegally without any sign from Mr. Obama that he will strengthen the border. We know that terrorists are fully involved in drug cartels in South and Central America and Mexico but that has not dissuaded him from violating the Constitution in permitting the invasion.

It’s only a matter of time before a major attack occurs. It’s not “if”, it’s “when.”

“It’s unclear whether these are sophisticated attacks or not, but they illustrate the growing awareness of America’s vulnerability related to the grid,” Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ), told TheBlaze. ”It seems only a matter of time before more sophisticated and perhaps more malevolent enemies seek to exploit this vulnerability.”

We have done nothing to guard against these types of attacks or EMP attacks.

The one executive order Mr. Obama should implement, he inexplicably hasn’t.

A make-shift bomb did ignite near a 50,000 gallon diesel fuel tank at a critical transformer substation south of Tucson, near the border. It services Nogales, home to one of the illegal immigration way-stations set up by Mr. Obama.

It failed to cause a major explosion or outage.

It would have affected 30,000 in Arizona if the device had knocked out the substation.

It was a small, home-made bomb but it fortunately did not ignite the diesel fuel. It caused a small temporary fuel leak after it exploded – it was a large explosion.

Whoever did it had some working knowledge of what the tank is and how it works according to the police chief.

A hole had been cut in the fence.

It was discovered on June 11th. The criminals or terrorists got in around 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to Arizona Central.

The FBI, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the state Department of Public Safety are assisting Nogales officials.

ELF (Earth Liberation Front), a domestic terrorist group, has been blamed for attacks like this in the past but the the vandalism they usually engage in was not present.

There are no eyewitnesses or suspects. There are cameras.

The last known attack was April 2013 when criminals cut emergency communication lines to a crucial transformer substation for Silicon Valley before shooting sniper rifles at the extra high voltage transformers for 19 minutes.

The Nogales attack was far less sophisticated.

Rep. Franks has two bills, CIPA and the SHIELD Act, awaiting subcommittee vetting in the House which would bolster electric utility resilience against physical attacks and natural disasters.

In March, a loud pop and a huge flame were described by UniSource Energy Services as a backfire. That seems to be the case.
