Pentagon: Sudden rise of ISIS is not an intelligence failure
(CNN) – Militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria are in the midst of a fast-moving offensive that has already captured vast swaths of northern Iraq.

The swift gains seem to indicate that the U.S. was not quite there when it came to intelligence, but Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby denies that is the case.

"We've been watching their growth and development for some time now. (This is) absolutely not an intelligence failure, we've been constantly monitoring the situation in Iraq," said Kirby.

"Yes, they moved pretty quick. Yes, we were surprised and disappointed at how some of the Iraqi security forces failed to meet those threats up in the north. But it's not something we haven't been watching," said Kirby.

This is an Administration failure, writ large.  This is what happens when a rank amateur is handed the keys to the kingdom.  This is a direct result of losing two elections.  The fact is, this President withdrew our military assets from Iraq some time ago, and the situation has been going downhill ever since.

In fact, a lot of intelligence resources over the past few years have predicted exactly this kind of outcome, only they did not factor in outright incompetence by the Obama Administration, and missed some of the mark because they gave too much credit where little or none was due.

This is only an "Administration failure" if viewer is an American-loving citizen.

It's a rousing success if your intention is to "reward your friends and punish your enemies" and your expertise is to agitate.

well, it is due to a lack of intelligence in the White House, which is mentally dead from the top down.
