Kidnappings are What Happen When You Reward Kidnappers

There is obviously plenty of blame to go around for the kidnappings Eyal Yifrah, GilAd Shaer, Naftali Frenkel by the PLO/Hamas unity government funded by Obama.

Eyal and Gilad are Israelis. Frenkel is a US citizen.

Obviously the PLO/Hamas government are to blame. So are its defenders and that includes the State Department. But so is Netanyahu, who made the deal for Gilad Shalit that made further kidnappings seem so profitable.

And so is Noam Shalit, who was the Israeli equivalent of Bob Bergdahl, except that Noam topped it off by trying to run for public office.

But then so is everyone who unthinkingly jumped on the Gilad Shalit bandwagon without asking what the price would be.

This has implications for the United States. The Taliban responded to the Bergdahl deal the way that Hamas responded to the Shalit deal, by pledging to carry out more kidnappings.

The most fundamental lesson of the War on Terror is that terror tactics cannot be rewarded.

That means you don’t negotiate with terrorists, you don’t back off for human shields and you don’t trade for hostages. When you do, you’re asking for more kidnappings.
