1 Million Poor Americans Hit by ObamaCare Fine

Posted By Daniel Greenfield On June 10, 2014 @ 11:12 am In The Point | 13 Comments

Finally Obama is doing something for the poor and unemployed. He’s fining them.

Roughly one million low-income Americans will pay a fine under Obamacare, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

The CBO estimated that four million people would pay the individual mandate penalty for not having health insurance by 2016 as a result of the president’s health care law.

“An estimated $4 billion will be collected from those who are uninsured in 2016.”

200,000 of those paying the penalty earn less than 100 percent of the poverty line. An additional 800,000 are considered low-income, earning between 100 and 199 percent of the poverty level.

Meanwhile the number of uninsured hasn’t significantly changed. Many of the people who bought junk ObamaCare policies have discovered that they’re worthless and going to the ER instead. And ER’s are forcing people to get ObamaCare policies.

Isn’t it great how much wealthy Democrats care about the less fortunate?

This tax is unconstitutional. This portion of the law should be heard by the Supreme Court.

Considering a significant majority voted for hope and change, I would consider this just desserts.
Why?  Well, because I'm a bastard, that's why.

There's an interesting op-ed in today's WSJ that makes a very good case for believing that by 2017 or so there will be 10% more uninsured people than there are today.  One of the main drivers of this increase?  The massive premium increases we're already seeing.
