PARIS (AP) — U.S. Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has told people treating him at an American military medical facility in Germany that he was tortured, beaten and held in a cage by his Taliban captors in Afghanistan after he tried to escape, a senior U.S. official said Sunday.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss what Bergdahl has revealed about the conditions of his captivity. The New York Times first reported on the matter.

The official said it was difficult to verify the accounts Bergdahl has given since his release a week ago.

Bergdahl, now 28, was captured in June 2009 after he disappeared from his infantry unit. He was held for nearly five years by Taliban militants.

Taliban spokesmen could not be immediately reached for comment Sunday. On Friday, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told The Associated Press by telephone that Bergdahl was held under "good conditions." The claim could not be independently verified.

Military doctors at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center say that while Bergdahl is physically able to travel he's not yet emotionally prepared to be reunited with his family. He has not yet spoken to his family.

Isn't it in the Taliban manual for  them to complain of abuse by captors like the terrorists who complained he got a bloody nose from SEALs?  I wouldn't believe one thing he claims.

Somebody that isn't supposed to be talking, is talking anyway. And we are supposed to believe them.

And then a request goes out to the Taliban spokesman. And we are supposed to believe that, too.

Pretty gullible and naive, they think we are. Feed us whatever Bull they want, expecting us to gobble it down.

He is saying only things are in his interests, if he said this at all. Since we are not 'allowed' to see him or to hear from him directly, all of these claims could be made up by Rice and attributed to him.
 
He will never admit for example that he did weapons training with them and played soccer with them, as an independent investigation reported.
 
So, all these reported things he is said to be claiming are all highly suspect regardless of whether he actually said them or not.

I'll guaran-damn-tee you that his captors have a video diary of sorts on Pvt. Bergdahl.

If he says he was tortured, we'll see videos of him playing soccer with the village children.

If he says he was sexually sodomized, we'll see videos of him 'enjoying' himself.
