On Friday’s broadcast of “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel, conservative commentator Monica Crowley weighed in on the deal the Obama administration made for the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
Crowley, however, she took it a step further by pointing to the Islamic elements of the swap, which she argued political correctness is hindering the country’s fight in what she deemed to be a “holy war.”
“You know, what? At the end of ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ when they locate Pvt. Ryan, they say to him, we lost a lot of guys looking for you,” Crowley said. “The difference is private Ryan in the movie was a hero unlike this guy who is a deserter and possible traitor to his country. The parents who should have been in the Rose Garden with the President are sitting right here. The parents who lost their sons in the line of fire looking for this guy, and the truth is that we are in a holy war.”
“This is a holy war, whether we want to see it that way or not whether it's politically correct to say it or not, this is the truth. And the enemy gets a veto, they get a vote as to whether or not we're still in this war. So, this commander-in-chief can come out publicly and say, repeatedly the war is ending. It's over. We're bringing home our guys. The enemy has a vote on this and this Jihad will be perpetual until the infidel is done, gone, killed, or in submission. That is the truth of the other side. We're in this holy war not because I'm saying it but because the enemy is saying it. We have a U.S. soldier who by all accounts now looks like he has turned and has now fighting that holy war on the other side, he better be held to account.”
