It is a phenomenon sometimes observed, that a previously law-abiding Muslim will, apropos of nothing, engage in gratuitous senseless violence against any infidel who happens past. There was a case in the USA where someone drove across a college campus, trying to run down students & screaming ‘Allahu Akhbar!’ There was the Beltway sniper, John Allen Mohammed, killing in Washington right after 9/11.

In Greater Manchester, in January last year, Imran Akhtar Hussain began a violent streak that started with unprovoked assault & ended in the murder of Kieran Crump Raiswell, for which he will serve a minimum of 23 years. It is quite possible that Farooq Shah, who was convicted of the murder if a young woman today, may be another instance of sudden jihad syndrome, which would explain the violence in this report from the Mirror (hat-tip to steve simmons @europeanfi):

Maniac stabbed pregnant sex worker to death minutes after knife-point robbery of partially sighted man

A man has been found guilty of stabbing a pregnant sex worker to death in a “cold blooded and senseless” murder.

Farooq Shah, 21, killed mum-of-one Mariana Popa just an hour after holding up a partially sighted man in a terrifying knife-point robbery streets away.

Police said Shah went out in Redbridge, north east London, on the night of October 28 last year armed with a knife, with the intention of using it to cause someone serious injury.

Detective Inspector Darren Richards said he had already threatened and robbed a vulnerable man with a blade in Upton Park, and was hanging round the “looking for another victim” when he killed Ms Popa.

Emergency services were called to the Ilford Lane shortly after midnight to reports of an injured woman, who was found with stab wounds to the chest.

She was identified as Romanian Ms Popa, 24 – a sex worker who was in the early stages of pregnancy when she died, and also had a six-year-old daughter.

DI Richards said: “(Shah) killed Mariana because she was there, because he thought he could get away with it. In doing so, he has deprived a young daughter of her mother.”

Investigating the murder, officers reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage, some of which captured the murder taking place.

Images showed Ms Popa, who had only been in the UK a number of weeks, walking along with a man on a bicycle before he is seen taking a knife from his back pocket and stabbing her twice in the chest.

He makes off on his bike, while Ms Popa collapses at a nearby shop.

After tracking down Shah’s bike, police arrested him at his home in November.

He was found guilty of murder, and will be sentenced later this month.
