Waves of immigrant minors present crisis for Obama, Congress
Tens of thousands of children unaccompanied by parents or relatives are flooding across the southern U.S. border illegally, forcing the Obama administration and Congress to grapple with both a humanitarian crisis and a budget dilemma.
An estimated 60,000 such children will pour into the United States this year, according to the administration, up from about 6,000 in 2011. Now, Washington is trying to figure out how to pay for their food, housing and transportation once they are taken into custody.
The flow is expected to grow. The number of unaccompanied, undocumented immigrants who are under 18 will likely double in 2015 to nearly 130,000 and cost U.S. taxpayers $2 billion, up from $868 million this year, according to administration estimates.
The shortage of housing for these children, some as young as 3, has already become so acute that an emergency shelter at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, has been opened and can accommodate 1,000 of them, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in an interview with Reuters.
The issue is an added source of tension between Democrats and Republicans, who disagree on how to rewrite immigration laws. With comprehensive legislation stalled, President Barack Obama is looking at small, administrative steps he could take, which might be announced this summer. No details have been outlined but immigration groups are pressing him to take steps to keep families with children together.
And that means you can multiply the numbers by at two or three.
Obama is directly responsible for this invasion. He ordered ICE to largely stop enforcing the law. See here, here and here.
Once the children are here, Obama ordered their parents not be deported.
Additionally, Obama has presented us with the gift of freeing 36,000 illegal alien criminals.
Children are being sent across the border by the thousands because Obama put out the piñata: he would no longer deport “dreamers.”
Biden declared “I believe they’re already American citizens.”
These dreamers are killing American citizens.
So we are being invaded and it’s going to cost us a fortune:

And as I said, once they’re here, the rest of the family will be not long behind.
“Now, it is again seen that there is a better life to be had in the United States and it’s worth the risk” of parents encouraging their children to make the perilous journey from countries like El Salvador and Honduras, said Langon, now a professor at Georgetown University and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
At whose cost? What is it we owe them? If liberals want these kids to have a better life, then they ought to make their life’s mission the improvement of the countries in which these kids live. Take up activism there. Make a difference there. Stop making us pay for your largesse. The economic demands on communities where these families live is enormous. They have no skills and drain local governments to the tune of at least $10,000 per year per child with zero hope of contributing anything much in the way of property taxes and that’s before social support.
This asinine Obama policy discriminates against accomplished would-be potential immigrants who would come to this country and bring skills while it rewards the illegal invasion by the completely unskilled and illiterate and expects the dwindling numbers of us who actually work to provide support.
The very least those who believe this is good policy can do is to volunteer to pay for the costs for the upkeep of the invaders. I want more than I have, but I don’t demand that liberals pay for it. I follow the rules. It’s wrong to continue to reward those who do not.
The dirty truth is that this is all about importing future democrats to marginalize conservatives and more.
