The Koch brothers are headed to the big screen — and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are coming along for the ride.
The two congressional Democratic leaders will appear at a screening in the Capitol of “Koch Brothers Exposed: 2014 Edition” — a documentary that Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-Nev.) participated in. Both Reid and Minority Leader Pelosi (D-Calif.) will participate in a question and answer session as well.
Washington Democrats — and Reid in particular — are on the warpath against the billionaire conservatives David and Charles Koch.
“The Kochs’ bid for a hostile takeover of the American democracy is calculated to make themselves even richer. Yet, the Kochs and their Republican followers in Congress continue to assert that these hundreds of millions of dollars are free speech,” Reid said on Thursday, one of his now-common broadsides against the conservative brothers.
The screening will be held on Tuesday evening in the Capitol Visitor Center. The movie is directed by Robert Greenwald and is a midterm update to a 2012 film of the same name. In an email, Koch Industries General Counsel called it “troubling that Senior Democratic party leaders are using taxpayer resources to publicize this partisan propaganda.”
“It is disappointing, but not surprising, that Senator Reid and Representative Pelosi have teamed up with Robert Greenwald, a failed Hollywood producer who now makes obscure partisan attack videos,” Mark Holden said. “Mr. Greenwald made a series of videos about Koch back in 2012 which were filled with lies, distortions, and misrepresentations about Koch.”
