"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness -- these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. . . . reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles."
George Washington

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Good news. This will help many shed those unwanted pounds.

Pardon me for being Mr. Doomsday's little ray of sunshine here, but this is to be expected to a certain extent. Last year was a bumper crop, one of the most productive years in a long time, which drove prices way down. Naturally there's going to be some rebound, and most of that is in beef and pork (beef is still recovering from a drought a year or two back; pork is dealing with a diarrhea epidemic).

Not really. It's the healthiest foods - meat, fruits and vegetables - that are becoming more and more expensive (not that this matters to the food stamp crowd).   :pondering:
A day without sunshine is like, you know, night.

We'd all be smart to go out right now and try to find those emergency food rations meals....in addition to all the tuna fish and other canned goods you can afford.  And water above all.

They say that you have to die of something.....but why not eliminate starvation as the cause.

We need to learn to love tuna fish.
