The “Congressman with Guts,” Democrat Alan Grayson, is once again being challenged to ‘man-up’ and throw his name in for consideration to the newly formed House Select Committee on Benghazi.
Grayson’s Republican congressional challenger, Jorge Bonilla rehashed his prior call for Grayson to “put his guts where his mouth is, and join the Select Committee on Benghazi.”
Grayson famously stated that Benghazi “was the scandal that never was,” prior to the incendiary White House emails that showed the administration knew that the attack at the U.S. consulate was not caused by some video they blamed for the attack.
Republican Speaker of the House, John Boehner, has appointed the fiery Republican from South Carolina, Congressman Trey Gowdy, to chair the Select Committee. Jorge Bonilla Last week Speaker John Boehner announced both the creation of a Select Committee on Benghazi, and Congressman Trey Gowdy as its chairman.
In the wake of this announcement, many on the left and in the media went “Full Grayson”. Rather than lending bipartisan cooperation to the pursuit of justice, House Democrats have attempted to mock and delegitimize these efforts.
Chief among these is Congressman Alan Grayson, who shamefully called Benghazi “the scandal that never was”, and has tried to explain away the terror-related deaths of four Americans with several variants of “bad things happen”.
In their relentless pursuit of partisanship, House Democrat leadership has suggested that it might not participate in the Select Committee. But they should reconsider. I renew my call for Congressman Alan Grayson to put his “Guts” where his mouth is, and join the Select Committee on Benghazi.
Someone who prides himself on asking the right questions in committee hearings should have no problem getting to the truth. That is, if there is any interest in pursuing the truth above partisan loyalty.
