White House Press Secretary Jay Carney criticized the new select committee formed to investigate the Benghazi attacks, calling it a “blatantly political and partisan effort.”

House Speaker John Boehner announced the panel Friday afternoon following the House of Representatives vote, which included seven Democrats.

“House Republicans, in what is a blatantly political and partisan effort, voted to start another investigation into this matter, presumably because the six previous investigations by Congress, by Republicans, were somehow not adequate,” Jay Carney said on MSNBC Friday afternoon.

Carney criticized Republicans for using the investigation to fundraise, and he insisted that they were only trying to motivate their base for the midterm elections.

Carney added that “through every investigation, the conspiracy theories that have fueled Republican interest in this have all fallen apart.”

Issa has failed to bring any of his investigations to a politically advantageous conclusion. Maybe Gowdy will fare better.

In the end the measure is gaining political advantage. Can Gowdy's committee convince enough swing voters, to help get the majority in the Senate?

Otherwise, Obama is not resigning, will not be impeached.

He is correct, this is by its very existence a political entity with the power to do a real investigation with actual questioning by real prosecutors who work for Congress Critters with some actual expertise on this subject.

This is why Pelousy is stalling about appointments on the committee and the demonization of the Republican members is just firing up now that they have been named.

Wait until the Committee really gets started....the daily White House press briefings are going to be frickin' hilarious to watch.....
