An influential Christian lobbyist has said he is planning to build a 'national coalition' to relentlessly boycott any team that drafts gay NFL prospect Michael Sam.

Jack Burkman, head of the Washington, D.C. lobbying firm J.M. Burkman & Assoc., said he would 'leverage his political clout' to ensure that the franchise that selects the player would get 'roughed up financially.' ...

'We shall exercise our First Amendment rights and shall not stop until the drafting NFL franchise cannot sell a single ticket, jersey or autographed football,' said Burkman. 'In short, we shall be relentless.' ...

  • Do NOT go in there.
Here's the Burkman company's list of clients. It seems to be mostly energy/environmentally related clients.

Seems like he's just trying to stir up a fight and get his name out there, the same way as the Westboro folks.

Geez.  Who cares if he's gay and if some team recruits him?  Quite honestly, the team that signs him will almost certainly do so because of his skill as a player, without regard to being gay or straight.

Someone needs to take Jack Burkman quietly aside and kick his butt.

"Extreme Christian lobbyist" -  Someone really worked overtime to come up with that headline.
