Dover Air Force Base placed on lockdown in Delaware

DOVER, Del. - May 8, 2014 (WPVI) -- Dover Air Force Base has been placed on lockdown due to a suspicious person reported on the premises.

Action News is told the lockdown went into effect at 11:00 a.m. Thursday as a precautionary measure, and all personnel were told to shelter in place.

"The safety of our people is our top priority," said Col. Randy Huiss, 436th Airlift Wing vice wing commander, in a statement. "We take this report very seriously and are taking the necessary precautions to investigate this matter."
