Obama Explains What He Will Do if ‘Republicans in Congress Refuse to Act’ to ‘Grow Our Economy From the Middle Out’
May. 3, 2014 7:39am    Oliver Darcy

President Barack Obama said in his weekly address Saturday that he will act on his own to “create more jobs and opportunity for hardworking families,” if Republicans in Congress refuse to take the action he would like to see.

“[W]e could do a lot more if Republicans in Congress were less interested in stacking the deck in favor of those at the top, and more interested in growing the economy for everybody,” Obama said. “They’ve now voted more than 50 times to take apart the Affordable Care Act – imagine if they voted 50 times on serious jobs bills.”

“That’s why I’m going to take action on my own wherever I can,” he continued. “To grow our economy from the middle out, not the top down. To give every American who works hard a chance to get ahead.”

The president, speaking about his efforts to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, added that “as long as Republicans in Congress refuse to act, I’ll keep working with cities, states, and businesses to give more Americans a raise.”

It's so sweet to see the Congress not caring that they're no longer part of the process.

Of course they don't care. All of this has been done before a hundred times in history.

Today Washington D.C. is the new Palace of Versailles and Obama is the reigning monarch. As long as the luxury and wealth (fat salaries, kickbacks, pension for life, top of the line world class healthcare, etc.) keeps streaming into their pockets, the nobles will remain silent and loyal to the king no matter what excesses he allows himself. They are not like us fodder, us peasants. They are better than us. They deserve more than us stupid "workers".

And what eventually happened to Versailles and these nobles would be an interesting lesson for Congress if they understood history. (which, obviously, none of these fools do)
You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

And what would you have "Congress" do? The Senate, led by Harry Reid, is perfectly content letting 0bama do anything he pleases. They're as much a part of the process as they want to be. The House passes bills and has hearings, which is about all they can do without cooperation from the Senate.

Exactly. Until Harry Reid is no longer the majority leader, nothing will get done.

And even if the GOP holds both houses for Obama's final two years, nothing will get done unless bargains are struck, compromises made.

And the Tea Party couldn't do anymore than that, either.

All the soundbite claims and threats will be of no avail, unless Republicans hold veto proof majorities in both houses.

No amount of ranting and soundbites and screaming or crying by performers changes that.

Our gov't was designed to work that way - checks and balances. On the whole, it's worked pretty well.

What's the difference between a budget and funding? Are you suggesting that we have a Cruz style shutdown that is permanent? That would be one way to make sure we have the dims in power for many more years.

We all know threats from Obama are to be taken seriously.

Threats against conservative Americans by Obama should be taken seriously.  He's proven he will sic the IRS, DOJ, FBI, NSA, and others to make the lives of conservatives miserable.

His threats to Russia, Iran, and China are laughable, though.  Those countries have nothing to fear from this bully, since he has no authority over their daily lives.
Trump has created a cult and looks more and more like Hitler every day.

A budget is Congress doing what it is supposed to do.
Funding is automatically extending the debt irresponsibly with no limit which is Congress doing what it is not supposed to do.
But, you knew that didn't you?
